As an autist, he is so extremely relatable. I know this might be hella controversial, especially to non-autists, but he is a walking contradiction which autists seem to experience themselves, too. He overthinks everything when it comes to him not being a normal human and yet he is so intune with his and the people's emotions that he cries in form of rain. I'm still not sure how true it is that it is him who causes the rain or if he can simply control the rain when convenient but it definitelly is tied to his emotions and understanding. He is aloof but he still understands the suffering people go through. Even in conversations between us (Traveler & Paimon) and him he doesn't know how to talk at all. I hate small talk and when you try to talk with me about nothing in particular I won't be able to engage at all just like him. Him trying to deflect in such conversations really reminded me of my own way of speaking to people. Allistics struggle with understanding neurodivergent people and I see that struggle between him and the general public. Ow and his special interest that being water tasting!!! Him being so sensitive to tasting that he can taste differences in water from different origins and also his "special interest" in the melusines really remind me of myself and I can relate so much to him.

Basically, I find all Fontain Chars very endearing. Neuvi still stands out very much. After meeting Scylla, I also really hope that we can have another interaction. From my understanding, the Natlan dragon would have to be more of a phoenix. And I'm afraid he's less friendly. But let's see.

Crying? "really now? I didn't even notice. This must be the overflow of Hydro from my person!" Finishing his story quest is what convinced me that I needed Neuvillette on my account. I'm not even the biggest lore person but he's so well rounded and thought out that I can't NOT appreciate him as a person and as dragon!

Neuvillette went through quite the journey and development after accepting Focalors invitation to serve as Fontaine's chief justice, bearing witness the joys and sorrows of humanity as time went by, even experiencing his own moments of extreme emotional turmoil in the cases of Carole, Vautrin, Callas, Navia, and Focalors. He got his Authority over Hydro back and ascended to become a complete dragon sovereign as he wished but not in the way he expected it to, no doubt he would deeply regret how it went for the rest of his days. And now it seems Neuvillette will receive an unexpected guest from Remuria and, due to his control over hydro, hopefully, and this is just speculation, will be able to experience the precious memories of golden Remuria firsthand from the dragon prince Scylla, if not then he will have to hear the story of Remus from him.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful video essay! By far, Neuvillette (and Nahida) are my absolute favorite characters in Genshin, and I find it interesting often to think about why and how. There ARE some clear parallels. Both, at one point or another, in our interactions with them admit to feeling like they don't understand humans or human emotions very well, but at the same time - kind of showcase again and again how they are two of the more... empathetic, compassionate, and... kindest characters in the game, and some of the most human characters in particular. (I feel this way about the Archons in general actually as I see them as each representing a certain aspect of humanity's strengths as well as some of their flaws, except magnified due to position/power.) I love Neuvillette also, in part, because I never really expected to. I think my impression of him from pre-4.0 from the trailer match pretty well with how others felt in the sort of... superior, better-than-thou, cold judge-y way, but... instead, we meet him in the AQ and in our first interactions with us, he's this quiet, unassuming individual who APOLOGIZES for the awkwardness of that initial interaction, and just... so often... you can tell how he's learned to love and respect humanity WHILE SEEING THE WORST OF WHAT IT HAS TO OFFER. To be a being capable of that much compassion... it's blows my mind, and just makes me love him more. (And also, proves Focalors'/Furina's ultimate success in bringing him unknowingly into their scheme - which COULD have gone horribly wrong otherwise if he were not who he is.)

I don't understand why so many Genshin creators think that video is told from Arlecchino's memories rather than simply depicting events as they were at the time. (The stuff on Nietzsche is super interesting though!)
@peen2804

same. it makes 0 sense for it to be a memory and not simply events being recounted from an omniscient narrator's perspective.

Why are people soo focused on scaramouche appearing in her trailer? It isn’t implied anywhere that we’re seeing her memories so seeing sacaramouche there makes total sense, in the end, the entire purpose of the inversion of genesis quest was to show us that irminsul couldn’t change the past, and only the people’s memories and records of it
@tiffanyh629
@tiffanyh629 3 ай бұрын
The thing is tho, is that, in character trailers, the POV _is_ often from the character of said trailer, if not, from a character very close to them who knows of the truth (ie. Zhongli and the yakshas). Assuming it's not for game purposes (voice lines), arlecchino memory of scramouche should've been wiped just like how greater lord rukkhadevata's memory got wiped from everyone, even the archon herself (excluding our traveler who isn't from teyvat to begin with). We're running with the idea that arlecchino's trailer is from her POV. So, unless mihoyo got sloppy and forgot scramouche's storyline, scramouche really should not be there in Arlecchino's memory.
@bird5724
@bird5724 3 ай бұрын
@tiffanyh629 The thing you're missing is that this isn't a trailer character, nor it is a POV. The short is impartial about the occurrences since it doesn't show us what happened from the perspective of Arlecchino, no thoughts or ideals of her were shown. If it really was her POV then the initial scene where Crucabena tells a story to the children shouldn't be there, since Arle wasn't there. It instead showed what happened in general, with her being the main focus/protagonist. It actually shows her story from a third person view, not her personal one. Since it shows objective reality, then it is right that Scaramouche appears, and it's not a POV.

i am sorry to inform you but according to her story quest, she more or less selfish. she only care about the organisation, and not the people in it. sure she dosnt kill them when they leave but it sounds more like she dosnt want anything standing in her way of the house of the harth rather than showing mercy to her kids. i kinda dislike her after the quest... Also we absolutly have no info on how tf she has her powers. as far as i am concerned visions does not give you fucking domain expantion.
@seafishlover
@seafishlover 2 ай бұрын
@@amjadm7730 caring about the organisation IS caring for people in it. she isn't alone in the HotH. if she lets traitors out of it, they could spread information that can be used against her AND her children. it IS better to stop them BEFORE they could hurt those she cares about -- her children. you completely missed the point. and omg go read her stories, her powers dont come from her vision.

Ahhh this is so interesting I love it!! First, SUPER nice catch about Tartuffe, and second, this is such a nice dive into the nuance and actual context of the 'good' and 'evil' explored by Nietzsche. This is firing a lot of neurons in my brain and making so many connections I missed?? Like in 3.6, with Rene's notes talking about the blurring of good vs. evil, and also the Nietzsche achievement references in the Khvarena of Good and Evil, I had thought they were going for a more broad (and superficial) interpretation of 'morality.' But with Arle seemingly having some connection to both Khaenri'ah (ala Perinheri) and Narzissenkreuz (Caterpillar stuff), as well as Nietszche's moralities you highlight now, with Arle's teaser and the animation.... not to mention she's literally a knave or servant.... I'm so intrigued to get a fuller picture in 4.6. anyway super cool analysis, thank you so much for the content! I'll have to chew on it a lot more! (especially as a Nietzsche indulger who doesn't have the brain cells to process all these things lololol)

your comments always make me so happy aaa thank you!! my friend actually caught the Molière reference, I was rambling to her about Nietzsche and "Tartuffery" and she mentioned the play, so major credit to her aha :3 I completely spaced on Rene's notes though and the references in the Khvarena quest though- tysm for reminding me omg :> I get easily lost with Fontaine lore just because it seems so removed at times from what we know of Teyvat so far, but I'm crossing my fingers that between Arle's SQ and Remuria we'll be getting some long-awaited answers!

I found you just now, just now this video. And I will just add to it my little experience with Neuvillette... Genshin Impact has some tearful scenes, stories for example I was crying in Dainsleif quest in the chasm after Halfdan sacrifice, but it was only a few minutes and that's all. But After Neuvillette quest....... A whole week. I don't know why, but every time I think about that story quest I just feel sad, and to this day some tears will gather in my eyes. Maybe I am too emotional, but yet Neuvillette is the only character that made me cry so much. The way he understands humans is interesting and shows, that even non-human being is sometimes more human than humanity (I hope you understand what I mean here)
