I just fixed mine and it came out damn nice and strong ! Without doing this Frankenstein job . Only it was a bit more time consuming . 1. I cleaned and smoothed out the broken sides on the base where the hinge rods go, leaving a rough surface . 2. Blew out all the fine dust away and cleaned the area with rubbing alcohol . 3 . I build up both sides on each hinge with INSTANT GRAB CONSTRUCTION ADHESIVE ALL MATERIALS ALL WEATHER Purchased at HOME DEPOT , I think it was like $7 . Leaving at close to the original . 3. I let it dry overnight and added a second coat . 4. I let it dry and the following day ground it down a bit to skape it. 5 I replaced 2 of the missing hinge rods cutting them from outside cylinder of a disposable ink pen . 6. I filled each side of the new rods with adhesive and placed them into place and placed adhesive around each end and repeated the drying process . 7. Once dry I shaped the dry adhesive again using my DREMEL tool . 8. I ordered matching paint . This step Y dont recomend as the damn can was $30. . The finish looks great but $30 was a bit much . 9.I reinstalled the door . It looks perfect , it's strong, and it functions exactly like it was never broken ! GOOD LUCK !

It depends if your going with a retail one or your making it yourself. If your going with a store bought one you should be pretty good following the instructions. If it’s custom just make sure the snorkels don’t have too much movement up top or they will wiggle out of the connections somewhere lower. I’d even zip tire the snorkels together so they don’t move around as much. But that also really depends how tall your going with them.

A few questions. Is the weld splatter a big issue or no? And do you have to put gear oil back in? I mean isn’t it welded. And is the gasket needed?
@EightsGarage
@EightsGarage 9 ай бұрын
I did get splatter all over the place but as long as you don’t get it on the moving parts it should be ok. You still do need gear oil since the pinion and ring gear are still going to spin, it’s just the spider gears and side gears you are welding together, everything else still moves like normal in there. Same as oil, you would still need the gasket.

Yup you would either lengthened or shorten both control arms that would push the axle forward or move it back. Since the top of the shock/coil is in a fixed spot moving the axle forward or back adjusts the caster.
