Giddey's turnover rate has gone down in each of his first 3 seasons, so why are you forecasting his turnover rate to be higher next year than his year 1 numbers? RE: Williams>Buselis - When Buzelis can defend one-on-one and not get constantly blown by, and make 3s at a good %, than he can compete with PW, for minutes, for now, Williams CAN defend one-on-on and make 3s, so he's got to be ranked ahead of Buzelis in the rotation entering the season. P.S. Your video/audio window was glitching out a lot.

Reminder that Giddey was playing a lot off ball last season. He didn't have the ball in his hands hence why his turnover rate decreased significantly compared to his first 2 seasons. He will have the ball in his hands more this season, therefore his turnover rate will be higher. It's nothing against him. Just having the ball more means more turnovers You're 100% right that P-Will is ahead of Buzelis in the rotation to start the season. However, if we don't see improvement from P-Will and Buzelis improves to where he's consistently averaging more points than P-Will, then P-Will's starting job could be in jeopardy. That's not saying that will happen nor that it should happen. Just saying that P-Will has competition at his position for once and if he doesn't perform, he can lose his starting role I appreciate the audio feedback. I don't have a consistent fix for it. One stream it's perfectly fine. The next stream it looks awful

Obviously we should have started rebuilding at least a year ago, but I am glad we are doing it now nonetheless. Some solid signings so far and we FINALLY are the ones getting a couple of picks in a deal even if they are seconds. We need as many picks as we can get to navigate this rebuild successfully. Still wish we got some seconds or a first in the Caruso deal, but whatever

Bulls had no leverage. They should of traded him last yr at the trade dead line. The man had the stats that warranted the money he wanted. He is a Dawg! Sacramento was the only team wanting to pay him anywhere he wanted. His age in a 3 yr deal is miniscual. He competes every night! Thank you Chicago for early christmas gift...
@theslamduncan
@theslamduncan Ай бұрын
They absolutely should've traded him last year and even the year prior. I completely agree about that But given the circumstances, I'm happy about the deal when I was expecting the Bulls to get nothing for him (and I would've been fine with that too) Sacramento got a good dude and I hope it all works out. I have major questions about the fit and I worry when DeRozan will officially start to decline. But Sac doubled down on being offensive oriented and should be winning every clutch game with Fox and DeRozan (I said should. I didn't say will.)
@illDefine1
@illDefine1 Ай бұрын
I disagree with your take vehemently. Rebuilding teams need cap space when they feel ready to compete as opposed to the currently tanking ones. There is no scenario in the nba where you need cap space less than when you're tanking. As of right now, they want as many tradeable assets and picks as possible as long as they stay under the cap to avoid penalties. Really bad move for the Bulls. I also guarantee you that most teams can get at least 1 FRP for someone considered a top 30 player in the league .. aging or not. Just look at the Haul for Dame, who is ranked around the same place as Demar (in actuality he's worse) and is the same age. Or consider that Buddy Hield almost got the same return in his sign and trade, who isn't even considered a top 100 player.
@superslavbross9935
@superslavbross9935 Ай бұрын
Dame trade was also S&T?
@illDefine1
@illDefine1 Ай бұрын
@@superslavbross9935 True. But they were both signed at the moment they got traded. I'm aware the return is less with S&T, but not being able to land a single FRP is simply ridiculous in this day and age for a top 25-30 player. Don't forget, Dame is also on a terrible contract which brought his value down. Demar barely got a better return than a Buddy Hield sign and trade. To say the alternative is to get nothing back would be a false narrative. Demar wanted the security from a sign and trade. It was also in his best interest. Otherwise, his contract would not have paid him as lucratively.
@illDefine1
@illDefine1 Ай бұрын
@@superslavbross9935 For example, Demar fits quite well on the GSWs and that team is clearly trying to capitalize on the remainder of Steph's all-star years. I'm not behind the front office, but there's no doubt of the 29 teams they could have found better. A 2029 FRP from Warriors will be a gold mine while Sac will probably be average at worst. I'm aware no one wants to pick up Andrew Wiggins, but if you;re tanking he's the perfect guy. His contract expires in 26-27, basically the soonest the Bulls can possibly complete if they have a quick rebuild. Then money comes off the books when you actually need it.
@theslamduncan
@theslamduncan Ай бұрын
I disagree with almost everything you've said, but I'm glad we can discuss it Would u be willing to part ways with a first round pick for a 35 year old DeMar DeRozan? I'm aware he's still a good player, but let's be real here. This isn't a scenario where the Bulls have the leverage to maximize DeRozan's value. He's an UFA. If they wanted a FRP, they should've traded him 2 seasons ago or last year when he was under contract Your comparison to the Dame trade is pretty poor imo. Dame is clearly better than DeRozan, was under contract through the 2025-26 season, is also younger, is coming in to be the 2nd star next to an MVP, and his game fits the modern day basketball DeRozan is an UFA, going to be 35, worse than Lillard, is coming in to be at best the 3rd option, and doesn't fit the modern day style of play. I don't see these two trades being comparable at all imo. That's my opinion tho and u have every right to disagree I also completely disagree with your analysis on cap space for bad teams. Bad teams don't want any long-term salary. U even mention a reason why which is when they're about to become good, they want to have money to spend. So bad teams want to clear cap so they can have that money to spend later, but also use that money to acquire assets. Literally just look at what the Spurs did in this DeRozan trade. They cleared cap and acquired Barnes's contract and got a FRP swap out of it. Also to make things clear, teams can go over the cap without being penalized. There's a major difference between being over the cap, which the Bulls currently are, and being in the luxury tax, which the Bulls are currently avoiding. So using cap space to take on bad contracts won't penalize the team, even if the team goes over the cap I also don't believe GSW would spend a FRP on DeRozan by any means. I also don't think he fits their system at all. Not to mention, GSW is in a major bind due to new CBA restrictions so spending a chunk of money on DeRozan is just a bad business decision.

@theslamduncan
@theslamduncan Ай бұрын
You're right about the new CBA rules, but I honestly think teams are not interested bc they don't know if he's healthy. I believe if he shows he's healthy, teams will be willing to take him. That's not me saying the Bulls get anything valuable in return for him. That's me saying that teams will be willing to take him without the Bulls giving up a pick, too. I could 100% be wrong about this, and I'll admit it if I am wrong. But he's too good of a player that fits the modern day style for teams to say he has negative value, even with the big contract and not so great defense

the bulls gave up a 1st to get derozen in a sign and trade and they got back 2 2nds. the bulls got zero picks for caruso whereas the nets got 5 first rounders for bridges. AK is an awful GM. he can’t trade. he can’t draft. and he loves soft, short armed players with no lateral quickness who can’t shoot. i can’t wait for the AK era to be over. 3 and d with ball handling to initiate drive and kick is what you need in the modern era. AK is too dumb to realize this.
@theslamduncan

There's no doubt AK has been God awful and he should've traded Caruso and DeRozan much earlier when they had more value. He absolutely failed to get good value for players that were inevitably going to leave But given the circumstances that it would've been fine if he left for nothing, they got something out of it and officially hit the reset button, I'm happy about the trade I've seen your comments, but it's hard to decipher your messages, but let me be clear I've heavily criticized AK on this channel. I've made it clear that he's absolutely failed as head of basketball decisions. But I'm also fair in my criticism. I'm not going to be here saying that every move is bad just to hate on him. If I think a move is good, I'll say it

@@theslamduncan Signing pat for a long and cheap contract was a great move. he will be a star. signing smith was a good move as it indicates that AK is smart enough to realize that a team needs a PF on the roster, especially one that can shoot and also play the 5. Trading for giddy (short arms, cant shoot) is pretty much AK's mo. Drafting Matas (short arms, cant shoot) shows that AK just can help himself. AK's preferance for players is the opposite of presti or Ujiri. trading demar to the kings and somehow getting less in return than what the spurs got is troubling. it shows how cheap and stuck our franchise is. i have zero faith in AK. if it were up to him the entire team would be 6-6 and half the players wouldnt be able to defend or shoot. We really are in the dark ages of bulls basketball. i am hoping this is rock bottom and we move on from AK and get a real GM with an eye for talent - someone like sam presti or masai ujiri. Long, Skilled 3 & D players are the future of the NBA, not short armed not shooters that AK is in love with.

Jalen Smith is an excellent acquisition. I loved all the positives that you pointed out: wonderful shooting, willing mobility, consistent floor awareness. I think his next steps will be comparable to his own developed AI: getting to that level of experience where he has so much game-based ‘machine learning’ in his instinctual memory, that he’ll make predictive decisions based on opponent flaws which he’s seen before. That’s when you start seeing the opportunistic blocked shots, pass deflections and steals. He’ll be making high-probability decisions based on all that he has seen already. If he can stay healthy, he has the physical skills and the obvious, ongoing study of the intricacies of the game to deliver scary upside.

AK still hasn’t figured this out. you actually don’t even need a point gaurd per-say. i am not sure why AK is obsessed with players with short arms who don’t move well laterally who can shoot. players like matas, giddy and vuc have a real low probability of success. they are #5 starters.

if you can’t shoot 50% on your wide open 3’s then you are awful giddy has to play SF since he is so slow defensively which will negate a lot of his size. giddy is an interesting prospect but he is obviously your #3 wing defender and he really has to fix his jumper. lets say the Bulls had drafted ron holland. would holland, giddy and pwill have worked out? probably.

@theslamduncan
@theslamduncan Ай бұрын
So you shouldn't be expecting winning in the next 2-3 seasons. This team is going to be bad. And bc they don't have a big asset pool like the Thunder did, this will take some time. Signing P-Will to this deal shows they're investing in young talent, which is what they should be doing The Bulls had no cap space this summer. And to answer one of your replies, letting P-Will walk doesn't give the Bulls money to spend on free agents. This was the right decision The only money the Bulls can spend on free agents is using the mid-level exception (which they used to sign Jalen Smith) and the bi-annual exception I agree that P-Will has only been a role player so far. But if he can increase his points and keep his good defense and around 40% 3 point shooting, he will easily outplay this contract. But those are legitimate concerns to have bc he's been pretty mid so far in his career. He has no excuses now to perform better so we better see it happen
