Wonderful music. I believe this is a separate tradition from that of the griots/jeli. This is music of the hunter's/donso societies. Thank you for sharing this performance.

When the Kora player just loses it you can tell that he really really feels it. It isn't just music to him it's more and as a musician I really love seeing that. He really is feeling the music so spiritually here it looks like. This to me is WAY better than any mainstream artist in the USA or the K-Pop scene and we need more of this to be seen, shared and kept alive all around the world.

I'm Mandingo ethnically so this here is literally my culture. You're absolutely correct. I remember visiting my pops' village and they often have a ceremony when a foreigner visits. I remember it feeling surreal, almost scary for me as a kid. It felt vibrational. This is so much more than music. It IS spiritual as you said. When OG hits the footwork he's most definitely in trance. It reminds me of James Brown/Michael etc. Thank you for appreciating this.

There’s no way in hell the blues musicians of the 1920s had ever heard anything like this, yet they sound so similar.

My dad told me that music comes from the heart because you can feel and sometimes hear the sound of your own “heartbeat”. Makes you want to pound your chest, dance and sing. Makes you feel alive, litteraly. There’s a reason why people in nursing homes suddenly spring alive when they hear music they grew up with.
@bean4423 Жыл бұрын
Bc the blues didn’t jus start inna 1920s outta nowhere. Even early blues musicians a tell u dat. Ma Rainey herself said the blues always been n she knew wtf she was tb. Guaranteed alotta the music our enslaved ancestors use to play on the banjo n fiddle would most deflee be categorized as “the blues” now.

Is it true the Dalai Lama is arrested for crimes against humanity? Inquisitive minds want to know. Crimes are crimes. If true: God remains, idolatry of anything or anyone remains foolish. After all.
