Maybe she didn't want to say the line. Play herself as a drinker. Imo, flubbing the line was genius move by a woman under the control of a patriarchal system in 1959

I don't think this is the whole story. I read he was married before Dolores, and never got divorced. There was some doubt as to whether it was actually legal. His daughter said he used to walk round the house naked, even when she had guests round, and he used to swap women with Bing Crosby and send them back and forth.

It is just incredible how he managed to compose music to suit the various different scenes in the James Bond films. This was no normal human being, there was something supernatural about his talent. He is definitely a musical genius.

Yeah..... but the only reason that movie became a classic was because Marilyn Monroe was in it and doing what she did. Lets not forget that.

He looked great in this interview. Gene Kelly will always be my favourite OH actor and for me he is (was) the best dancer of all time. Singin' in the Rain will remain the greatest musical of all time no other musical will ever come close to this masterpiece. Thank you Gene for bringing so much joy to our lives with your wonderful movies. Its been 27 years since you left us, but we will never forget you. A true class act in Hollywood history he changed the landscape of musical movies forever.

Careful carrying on about Marilyn forgetting her lines ad nauseum boys- it starts to look petty and vindictive. She was a fragile woman. And it’s a nasty business.

Fuck the academy! What do they know? A bunch of self-obsessed wankers who should all fall into a black hole...especially for how those same arseholes treated Chaplin. Gene Kelly contributed a huge amount to cinema, particularly musicals. He was always my favourite twixt him and Astaire. I read his biography when I was 10 or so...1974-ish, and always enjoyed the musicals he was in. I'd posit that On The Town is my favourite musical...either that or Seven Brides for Seven Brothers...or Calamity Jane but, without a doubt Singing In The Rain ("an' I can't stand 'im") is, for me, definitely the best all-round musical/comedy piece of cinema even if just for the in-house look at the vagaries of being a 'star' in Hollywood. I also really enjoyed the roller-skating dance scene from It's Always Fair Weather and thought it was spectacularly unique.

Gene when he dances he spins, he twirls, he leaps, he flies. Then while he dances he choreographers his stories. He will always be the second because Fred Astaire is THE MASTER! FRED ASTAIRE IS ALWAYS THE FIRST. ASTAIRE IS THE GREATEST DANCER EVER! My name is Cynthia Taylor and I know who are the best! Best dancer; Fred Astaire, Best Actor; Lawrence Olivier, Best Actress; Kathleen Hepburn, Best Director; that's tough because there is John Ford, Billy Wilder, Frank Capra, George Stevens, George Cukor, Howard Hawks, Vincent Millinelli. Best Movie is Casablanca but I love Saratoga Trunk with Gary Cooper, Ingrid Bergman, Flores Robson. Saratoga has tempo, staged acting, set designs and Gary Cooper's humor.

Billy Wilder was also a difficult person to work with. I think a lot of highly creative people have a few loose screws. The "where's that bourbon?" line could have been dubbed. There was no reason for 80+ takes. No idea why Marilyn kept messing it up but it's common knowledge she would deliberately drive directors nuts if they didn't listen to her or she felt disrespected by them. It was her way of fighting back.

Hillarious, I believe Marylyn did this deliberately, she wanted to make these guys suffer. She was not their sex package. She knew her real actress value. And , she was brilliant as the dump Blonde. They were equally so. A great master comedy, even the one who played the Bell Boy, priceless. And the senior band, + millionary. And , Girl Band manager. Just one off the finest Comedies, off it's time.😍🌷🙏🌅🤗🇺🇸🇩🇰🤔

People who are commemorated after their death did something that stood out. The rest of us will be remembered for nothing because we never did anything impactful. We are but useless beings on earth who take oxygen from those who make some type of change. The realization of this makes people depressed and the people who arent depressed are oblivious and their brain stores that realization away for their sake so how will we ever cure depression? We think pills and therapy helps but no. Only someone who is in depression can save themself.
