I would have gone for the 1st house. It was big and bright with enough storage space and parking, which gives it more value for money. I would compromise on location to wake up in my dream home everyday.

Sandra I used to love watching you on HGTV! So glad I came across your channel, I watched so many episodes of Property Virgins and Buy Yourself here this weekend.

I used to love watching this show on HGTV Canada! Now when I watch this all I can think about is how these buyers from back then now have struck gold in the Toronto Market.

As a person who absolutely hates open kitchens I would choose condo 2 and install doors.

If only we could bring back those prices. This show could not be made today.

My suggestion would be for them to add a little more money to their budget ( the 20k they set aside for reno) and look for a more expensive house that is a little bit turnkey with a better layout. At least a house that has a separate entrance for the basement like the first house. Even if the house is more expensive, they could put in a lower offer and may be lucky to get it. In all, I preferred the second house because it had a better basement. Even though the upstairs isn't that great, I believe it will be a lot easier to renovate the upstairs than the basement. Why buy a house with a nice deck if you are going to remove it?

My brother in law passed in September. He was constantly telling my sister he wanted to go home. She kept telling him he was home. She responded inappropriately with our father constantly asking him if he remembered something. He didn't know who SHE was. At the end I was the lady who took care of him. That was enough for me. ❤❤

Why not get rid of the things you don't use, instead of paying for storage? Maybe it's bicycles, etc and stuff. I guess then it might make more sense.
