@@jasonstuart9382 I try to get her out as much as possible and away from being behind a screen and get in touch with nature as much as possible. Almost everyday she asks if we can take the boat out which makes me feel great like I’m possibly doing something right lol.

@@ronaldcherrier3205 we’ve caught some bigger then that before but I haven’t seen one this size in a few years. It’s been a while since I’ve even seen one in person almost like they had a kill off it moved out but makes me happy seeing some around. I know a lot of people hate them but they don’t bother me. Very enjoyable to actually get one hooked for a change. The last one we caught a few years ago its mouth got hog tied from the line with it was eating my sunfish for bait.

@@DryerOutdoors yeah a lot of people break their jaws when they catch them and they don’t want to throw them back but I also have always enjoyed catching them I am from Florida and people down south hate them so much I like to catch them and show them to my kids they are terrified of them they think they’re piranhas lol because of their teeth but I always try to educate them and let them know that they are more likely to be bitten by a sun fish or gator than a gar 😂

@@Mashedpotatoes468 thank you. I hope so. She loves it out on the boat but she’s getting at that age where she wants to hangout with friends which I get so I still take her when she wants to go as much as possible.

@@DryerOutdoors I recorded a snake swimming on shore with a little flathead and eating it about 2 feet away from me. I found it quite amazing.

@@InfoNathan I’m trying to remember. I know if I did it by myself it would have taken at least that. That video was sped up I think to 8x I’m thinking it took a couple hours with the help of my wife. Best guess cause my memory is shot lol

@@DryerOutdoors The river is right on the edge of in its banks. Thinking about getting the boat out this weekend. Ive seen people out there so i think it’s time. Not sure if the fishing will be good, but need to try. Just don’t need anymore rain up north.

@@fishlessfisherman1539 willow and I got out last night on the river and did pretty good with some bigger eaters finally but still lots of smaller ones. This weekend I’m pretty much booked but the last week in July I’m on shutdown so I’ll be off that entire week. Maybe we can meet up and fish somewhere!

@@DryerOutdoors That sounds good I’m in cedar county so we can meet halfway or I can meet wherever. I’m very flexible my days are usually free.

Yes this was 2 weeks ago and out river is actually dropping right now but I believe it’s gonna go right back up! The best we talked about was about 28 miles north of us. Be pretty cool to see one lol

He’s had a lot of struggles with cancer due to agent orange. I honestly can’t remember how many times he’s had cancer then went into surgery for it. In fact he just had surgery 2 days ago to remove some spots for skin cancer. I’m glad he’s doing good and can’t wait tell next week when he’s making the 5 hr trip up here for a week. I’m pry gonna take him out on big river to a couple spots.

Yea it was a very beautiful pike. I’ve only ever caught a few strippers out of these waters and all were pretty small. I’ve been trying to find a place where there are some larger ones!

As was I. I was in like a shell shock state when I heard everything. First thing that came to my mind was his fingers were gone. So glad it was minor incident. Glad he’s willing to give fishing another go as well!

You never know what will happen in the outdoors. One thing everyone needs in a first aid kit is a tourniquet. Glad he’s ok and that you made sure he got the medical care he needed. Nice job 👍🏻

Yep why I watch the weather up north also. Reason we couldn’t got the last 3 weeks cause all the flood waters up north from the streams that dump into this river. We finally got a break.

Yep happens all the time. The worst part I feel like is how much sand you get in the tents 😂

Had to leave just before dark cause of an emergency. Thankfully everything’s alright now though. I was getting baits out and someone hit the other persons finger with a machete and we couldn’t get it to stop bleeding. So wrapped it tight tapped it up threw everything in the boat and hauled butt back to the boat ramp.

Unfortunetly there was an emergency where we had to pack up and leave.

My honey hole for smallies is no longer there due to the flood. In some of my past videos where I’m at the dam with my drone footage and ou can see a massive tree laying down on the one bank. Well that log has officially moved over the entire spot due to the flooding. Which just means time to put in some more leg work and try to find another new location.

This was filmed the day after it rained up north. Then the next day it came up almost 9’. Dam and as wide open and still is yet today. I’m guessing I filmed this about 2 weeks ago if I remember correctly. I’m really really hoping it drops very soon so I can get out otherwise I have to travel at least 40 mins to an hour to find anything remotely ok to fish sadly.

I’m waiting for the river to come down a few feet to try and get out to more spots cause I’m really starting to hate only fishing one spot for the most part. It kinda sickens me go back through all my footage see the same location over and over. Fingers crossed this year is different!

Yea she was up a bit the only reason I could get my boat to that dam. Otherwise it gets to be about a little over able deep in at one entire section.

Thank you! I like this boat but hate this boat at the same time lol. My old boat had this motor on it but it was smaller and third the weight so I could go through shallower water as in 3” while on step. It could also get up will him a few feet un 8” if water. This boat is definitely setup more for fishing but I need at least a foot of water to get up on step. But when on step I can run through 6” of water.

In shallow mode its rights around 7-8”. That’s my best guess but it’s shallow enough you can lean over and touch the he bottom without falling out of the kayak lol. Next time I’m out on it I’ll bring a ruler with to see.

Yea it’s still low. It’s roughly only 2.5-3’ deep in this video. It use to always be around 3’ with some nice 8-10’ holes that I use to fish but I’m hoping I can get back to them in his year.

Yep same here. I hate when any hook gets stuck in a fish. I k ow it happens but still blows.
