I have the older Arcam A39 in class G...I must be honest and say I'm not overly happy with the sound...I mean it's OK but I did expect it to be better considering the price $3600 Aust...For example my 15 yo Exposure 2010 outguns it in every way....Apparently the newer SA and Radia's series have good reviews and many happy owners...maybe mine needs looking at !

I like well designed and built turntables. I know from decades of experience that both ridgidity AND build quality- mass are integral to what makes a great turntable. The Rega is marketing entirely on the the fact that it is ridged and as light weight as it can be to support all the functionality of the table. So they got it half right, costing them less than if the table was massive. However, they are charging a fee that suggests it's a massive well built table, which it is not. Aside from performance, I don't want to look at a table thinking it should cost way less than I spent. I would also be concerned about the use of foam as a plinth, regardless of what the company says. Wait 10 years after testing to prove out the longevity of that foam and that it will stay in tact regardless of changing room temps, before you try to sell me it. It's moot for me since I'm not in the financial demographic that Rega is clearly targeting.

Can someone just explain because I don't get it. How can this turntable not be anything other than good for dj's. It's built like mk2's with the solid rubber mould. You can adjust the torque if I'm not mistaken. The motor is improved. It has a pitch control. For the price what sense what it make to have a lesser pitch control than a mk7. Surely they'll use the same components. Is because of the price tag and dj's can't justify the price so bash the turntable? I hear a lot of grumblings and probably from DJ's that haven't even touched the thing. If it's the feet, can't you just purchase mk7 feet? I sold my 1200 mk's a few years ago and the only real option if I want the same build quality and true to feel would be to buy a set of these... Regardless of cost. Please enlighten me.

Using something like a Denon 103 can be a struggle to get enough head shell mass (or effective tonearm mass I guess) for proper control of the low compliance cartridge. In my experience, I added head shell weight and the supplied extra counter weight to balance or the sound suffered. I bought the DL-103 not realizing how low compliance it is and it sounded awful (noticeably worse than a N97xE or a AT-VM95ML) until I educated myself and applied the tuning above (yes, with appropriate MC Pre). Thought it was the stylus differences but no, for me it was setup. Also, it's worth mentioning something most reviewers tend to miss - the supplied head shell has a set screw which allows for azimuth adjustment. Mine was noticeably off out of the box and the micro-line cartridge sounded very unbalanced until I dialed in the azimuth. I'm not at all a golden ear but I do actually hear the differences with proper set up given all the cartridge and geometry fussing about for setup. I've since bought a bunch of head shells to experiment and realized after the fact most of the cheap ones do not allow azimuth changes - I encourage buying ones which do allow for azimuth adjustment. Absolutely love the TT. Mine did not come with a 3mm spacer as mentioned by some other reviewers, so again - the 103 needs one. The tonearm on the black model is silver not black - doesn't bother me - maybe just a variation on later shipping models since I bought mine roughly Feb 2024. Copied most of this from other videos since I see this info often missing.

I use the 1210GR for archiving. I doubt I would notice any difference in performance in the GR2 that would justify an additional $400 in expense. Also, there's no way a strobe light can compete with modern internal electronics for precise speed regulation. I guess Technics feel they need the strobe as a branding device. Note that the new Denon 3xxx DD deck doesn't have a strobe. A modern DD TT doesn't need one for calibration.

I didn’t like the prodigy 5 at all in my independent review. Your video is very well made video, love it, but I don’t think you can really call it a review when you sell them. If I was you I’d just concentrate on a longer dialogue about the tech and leave the word review out.

We prize in this video the Italian craftsmanship of Sf yet those specific speakers are Made in China. They are designed in Italy for sure but the benefits of the Italian craftsmanship aren't here. We need to understand what the word craftsmanship encapsulates. The benefit apparently here is the price tag/cut. Having said that, I will kind of negate my own point here by admitting that since probably 95% of products nowadays are Made in China, the Chinese are becoming better craftsmen. Practice makes you better! In every respect, we love Sf.

Yea I agree with you, I have been looking intro SONUS FABER SONETTO II as my first " hifi speaker " right now I use some old B&O Penta MK3 active spakers, but wanna upgrade to Sonus Faber in the future. How would you think the Duetto stack up to the SONUS FABER SONETTO II since I kind of a way see the Duetto just being an " active " version of the Sonettos. Truly love the style of SF and my dream speakers would be the Sonus Faber Maxima Amator way way in the furture haha.

@@venosepticgaming3864 The Sonettos are half the price but passive of course. So with a 2K amp you can still do some magic for the same money. If you have the space and don't mind losing some convenience, go for the separates option.
