I own one of these. There is no way someone would play with this is on. It's big and bulky and restricts your walking. It's meant for rehab not activity

hi. i have implemented this grip and it works well with the irons. i just cant seem to hit the driver. half way through my round i had to change back to my old grip. couldnt hit a fairway. not sure how to hit the driver with this grip.

I was having a rough front nine when I remembered the grip and release you recommend. Back nine was a total 180 with my swing and score both dramatically improving. Broke out your book I feel your main that I bought several years ago plan to read it again. Thanks for simplifying the swing for me.

I just don’t know who throws a bowling ball with the palm up or throws a ball like Mike shows here, it’s more of a combination of ulnar and flexion. The wrists hinge naturally on the snuff box. Just let your arm hang and bring your hand up, it moves more on a 45 deg. Like swinging a hammer, you’d never swing a hammer with the palm facing completely down. His wrist action demonstration is exaggerated and misleading.

Love the way Mike teaches. He puts it into language that the student uses. For me it's skipping stones. I pretend I'm a kid on the beach. I've skipped 10,000 stones and when I picture that in my golf swing I have distance and accuracy all day long.💥

Mike: Wayne DeFrancesco has a video about closed stance for seniors - he says you can't get the left hip out of the way and recommends an open stance to do so. Can you comment on the open stance? Thanks!

I've always felt my most comfortable sitting on a barstool! Seriously though, it neutralises the right hip, which I think is a big problem for most amateurs. We're trying to muscle the ball with our bodies.

This is the last thing Fred Couples does before he heads for the first tee. Little right hand chips.

If the golf ball was being rolled slowly towards us before we hit it, we would instinctively do the perfect transition. The ball is stationery, thus calling all the wrong emotions and thoughts into play.

At set up do you slightly bump your left hip to have that post on left leg and brace with right leg?

So, I have been taking lessons, watching vids, playing golf since I was a teenager. THIS, this video has helped me strike the ball better than anything. What was said around the 9:00 mark is a game-changer for me! Wow, I took that to the range today and I was hitting all irons, including 4i flush!

Mike your left hand grip and hinge movement promotes a small slice and direction to the right for me. Relaxed wrist hanging down to grip club, wrist then points towards two o'clock. When I then go down with the left hand in the down swing, swinging it in it's natural power hammer position position the clubface is not square I feel. Do I need to take an even stronger grip? What could be worng here? I come from a left wrist pointing up or cupped (not bowed down) instead of your neutral angle.

This makes total sense. There has to be a point on the body that is furthest from the ball at the top of the backswing (the furthest point of the coil), and that is the scapula, which is the large bone in the upper back - the scapula is connected to the shoulder bone/upper arm(humerus). ... The scapula needs to be "frozen in place" for a split-second while the downswing is started early and the pressure in the lower body transfers to the left side. ... * Sure, the golf swing is all one continuous motion, but, there is something of a temporary "freeze point" in the upper body/upper back while the weight/pressure is moving to the left side to start the downswing. ... This takes place in a number of athletic movements, like a baseball outfielder making a long throw - there is a momentary freeze of the right scapula while the left leg reaches forward and plants into the ground, THEN the upper body uncoils rapidly in order to start the chain reaction of releasing energy from the scapula, to the shoulder, to the arm, then finally to the wrist and hand as the baseball is released.

@Frank-pi2gz4 күн бұрын
@@joelprice7746 I'm watching his swing, I repeat, I don't think it's that good. You can still play good with a flawed swing.
@joelprice77464 күн бұрын
@@Frank-pi2gz In a game that gets mocked for not being athletic his approach is just that-athletic. Different strokes for different folks but look at all the textbook swings that fall off the tour every year. You remind me a bit of Dan Jenkins who hated Greg Norman’s swing which also featured a sliding back foot.

Please check out my new series Part 1 just released Henry Picard believed that Hogan could really bend around, and that he had ‘great posture, footwork, everything’. It was Picard who, in the 30s, had told Hogan to weaken his left hand grip. This was necessary because of Hogan’s flexibility and the amount of counterclockwise motion with his left hand and arm in the downswing. It was Picard who told Hogan to ‘wheel it’ and to ‘turn it loose’, because he believed that if you have a true swing (as he believed Hogan possessed by then), ‘the harder you hit it, the better you hit it’. If you return the club at full capacity to the ball, the club head will true itself up at impact.

Your videos are awesome Mike, but the only thing I struggle with is the regular references to baseball hits, and the resultant body movement. I’m originally from the UK but have lived in Australia for the last 40 years. As a result, I never played baseball, as it wasn’t a mainstream sport or even offered when I was a kid. I wouldn’t know how to correctly hit a ball using a baseball bat, and struggle a little trying to put together the baseball link and the golf swing. I’m not complaining, just a feedback post.

The golf club is not a baseball bat and we do not strike the ball with the shaft! This misconception is why most everyone has a hard time learning golf. The golf club is a very unique tool, unlike any other that we know or use. To assume it works like a baseball bat or tennis racket is exactly the reason everyone finds golf difficult. What makes the golf club so unique is that it's the only tool that sends the ball at an acute angle to the shaft or handle. Literally no other tool does that. Every other tool sends the ball at an obtuse or right angle at the most.
