Hi Minoo! When I interacted with my non-native English speaking foreign colleagues, we all never used phrasal verbs in our speech because we didn't know them at all. Now I'm interested in learning as many of them as possible although the mind resists. Thanks for a lesson that will allow me to master phrasal verbs by approaching them as if from the sidelines, rather than pouncing on them head-on. Great advice Minoo, thanks a lot! Without massive context they won't stick in one`s head. I am getting off of my imaginary cloud and not turning in in time as you has turned me on to them!☁✨✨✨😊😊😊❤❤❤

Hi, ma'am. I'm Mrs. Kamatchi Hariharan from India. Your videos are very helpful for me to learn the concepts better. I've been learning each and every grammar aspect of the English language one by one for the past two years and 'phrasal verbs' is next on my list. It's a very timely video which has given me a clarity about how to learn and use them effectively. Thank you for making and sharing this video, ma'am.

Ma'am.. How do you make your videos? Could you please tell me how you make your presentations and which software (or app) you use for editing and all? I am a budding KZfaqr. I want to make more videos related to English learning, but I don't know much about using computers. It would be very useful for me to learn about it if you could share the details with me.

Mam, I have a question to you. You said that the preposition which is connected to the verb and changes its meaning is called a particle. And the verb along with that preposition are called phrasal verb. On the other hand, the preposition which is connected to the object of the sentence does not change the meaning of the verb. In this case, the verb along with the preposition are called prepositional verb. Here, I want to know from you that how will I be able to understand whether the preposition is connected to the verb or the object of the sentence . Because English is not my native language. Mam, please help me to understand the meaning of the verb whether it is phrasal verb or prepositional verb.
@AngloLinkEnglish
@AngloLinkEnglish 5 күн бұрын
I explain in detail and with examples in the lesson how to differentiate. Please watch the full lesson for the answer to your question. Briefly: If you remove the preposition and the sentence still makes sense, it's a prepositional verb; if the sentence makes no sense, it's a phrasal verb.

I remember hating phrasal verbs when I started learning English and up to this day I still do. It bugged me a lot because I was putting too much emphasis on using them. Time has passed and I've come to the conclusion that adding them to our vocabulary little by little (with context) is an excellent way to become familiar with them. Thank you.
@AngloLinkEnglish
@AngloLinkEnglish 5 күн бұрын
I'm really glad that you came to that conclusion too. I don't remember my teachers putting too much emphasis on phrasal verbs when I was training to become an English teacher in the early 80s or when I was teaching it in 90s and 00s. I don't know when it became such an important topic and separated from other vocabulary items.

@AngloLinkEnglish

The correct sentence is My fever is gone. Here 'gone' is used as a participle adjective. You can use 'has gone' if you have a person performing the action of going: He has gone to the cinema.

Thank you! I'm glad you've enjoyed my lessons. The three main tips from me would be: 1. Use official test preparation materials to prepare for the different parts of the test. 2. Listen to English podcasts / Read English blogs or articles / Write in your diary in English on a daily basis (at least an hour a day). 3. Get regular feedback on how your speaking and writing is improving from an English teacher who is familiar with the test format and requirements. I hope these tips help, and good luck with passing your test.

@AngloLinkEnglish 23 күн бұрын
They can be used interchangeably with a neutral intonation, in which case you're asking for the rating of the person you're talking to. However, if you stress 'rate' in the second phrase, you are asking the person to explain to you how to carry out the process of rating.

Yes, you are right: 'so' and 'too' are also adverbs of degree that go before adjectives and adverbs. I could have included them. 'much' can also be used as an adverb of degree, but for comparative adjectives only. 'most' can also be used as an adverb of degree too, but it's not very common.
