It was an absolute privilege to be able to work there. Now in my mid 50's, I was in the very last run of engineers with BHP Engineering to be able to experience the plant. I still keep in touch with many other engineers from my time there. Very fond memories.

i am so sorry that lovley lady was upset after reading the Letter about closure of newcastle steelworks i also lost my job as well as many other people i often drive down Selwyn Street and have fond memories of people i worked beside i am sorry for anyone who has suffered hurt as a result of closure but stay strong everyone god bless you all ⚘⚘⚘💝💖🌞🌈☯️🙏

Yes, Newcastle was a steel town when I moved here in 89. It's reinvented itself since though.

Good stuff. Yeah I worked in every single department via BHP Engineering. Pretty proud of that heritage.
