EAF is the furnace for melting the scrap and other ingredients, after finished. The EBT will be part of the equipment for tapping/distributed to the ladles. EBT is a part of the EAF, in my plant, it's operated by a hydraulic cylinder to open the bottom hole of the EAF, so the molten steel will be distributed to the next process.

I work in a steel mill, but not as close to the EAF as I’d like. I have yet to experience it in person. I have seen a KOBM furnace operate, and they’re equally as cool. Some people would be amazed at the scale of the parts of the process of making steel.

Sparks are small bits of metal, the sparks in steel making is a common phenomena due to a contact of two or more metals, and also some gases around the furnace. Small iron particles which is flying around the air it can caused the sparks also.
