Would it be possible to design a blade based off of the codex pages from the first game? I've been seeing more designs with the scissor mechanism
@KyleofAsgardАй бұрын
I've only seen a few designs with the scissor mechanism, and they are either really average, or really good but require extreme precision to make.

I personally love the long version which is the accurate one based on the games but there's a catch, after years trying different methods I realized the longer the blade the weaker it is and easier to break

THE LIGHTS ARE NOT HARMFUL IN YOUR EYES VISION? :)
@KyleofAsgard2 ай бұрын
The lights would be with excessive exposure, but the contacts are made to be warn in close proximity to high intensity UV lights at raves and clubs, so if you imagine the amount of time you would spend at a rave, thats about how long you can do this for. I did these glowing eyes over 10 years ago, used them on multiple occasions, sometimes days at a time, switching them on and off throughout the day. Still have great vision to this day.

If I was to print one on a Bambu lab carbon, I could print all the parts in a day. Ender 3, a couple of days. Unless you are meaning design/ print time, then around a year of tinkering on and off :)

Thanks, yes indeed, from what I have seen, hes the only other hiddenblade maker who has created one using the clock spring. :)
@egeoeris5 ай бұрын
Dude this is amazing, I adore the way you handled the deploying mechanism. I've been dabbling in with the hidden blade design around last year, I came to the same conclusion for the blade tip deployement, reinforcing the rod is a brilliant idea to keep the printed parts thinner. I didn't wanted to add an extra plate to keep the pulleys from falling, to compensate I highly recommend a ball bearing lock like imdeepainreborn's designs and screwing the pulleys directly to the middle blade with recessed shafts to compansate for the screw heads
@KyleofAsgard5 ай бұрын
Hey man, thanks for the praise, I funnily enough fully intend to use the ball locking feature to lock it like imdeepinpains, as that is def the smartest way to do it so far, funnily enough, I just saw a pic of his latest hiddenblade on Facebook and I think he may have gotten a bit of inspiration from me, as he is now using tiny screws to make it all flush along the outside, as well as that it is genuinely double extension and is clock spring driven haha.

Really nice work !!! unfortunately all most of the links to buy components are expired, so i have 2 questions , first is does that version have different intensities like the previous one ? , the second question is do you sell those already made ...it would be so much easier for us with no background in electrics ...:p ? please let us know :)
@KyleofAsgard5 ай бұрын
Hey there, sorry my links have all expired, Ill try to renew them soon. The second version I did Doesn't have the adjustment, but you could wire it in with a variable resister anyway (not the correct way to do it, but it works). I unfortunately do not sell the project as a kit, though the contacts are made with the purpose of being exposed to black lights so they glow, its the kind of thing that I could imagine someone using it 3 days straight at a convention, then try to blame me for selling a "dangerous" product because they have no impulse control and have strained their eyes, haha. I did exactly that about 8 years ago, no problems with my vision, but because I had them running for about 18 hours over a weekend, my eyes were hella strained the following day or two haha.

@@KyleofAsgardHi Kyle, thank you very much for your reply, unfortunately I'm totally rubbish at electronics, the effect you managed to produce with the variable light intensity was extraordinary and looked hyper realistic. I was wondering if instead of separate small UV leds, it would work with a piece of UV LED strip light (flexible strip), would it work as well in terms of intensity? because it's much easier to install it's already bought in working order just cut a piece of strip. If you think that the uv led strip system wouldn't work as well, would you be so kind as to share with us an update on the components used to recreate your effect, with, if possible, a version that lets you adjust the light intensity? And, above all, a brief explanation of how to farbic it with a remote control system. Thank you in advance, I work with children in a hospital and sometimes I make them animations by doing one or two magic tricks, it would be so cool if I made them this effect with a super hero cosplay , please let me know :) Thanks again for taking the time to reply and for your kindness. Best regards and keep up the good work :)

Absolutely impressive how you were able to use the pulley system to pack so much length in such a small form factor. Anyone who thinks your design is too long clearly hasn't looked close enough at the AC 1/2 hidden blade designs, or they're just used to seeing the stubby, undersized hidden blades most people tend to make. Also a big fan of the auto retracting system you designed on these. Very game accurate if you look at Ezios hidden blades when equipped in game. The winding system also makes so much sense! Allows the blades to be stored without all the extra tension when not in use. Definitely one of the best AND most accurate hidden blade designs I've seen overall!
