I remember it well, myself. And "just getting on with it" is incredibly hard. But what we can do is take action on getting help. When I did that, I didn't "fix" myself, but I started that process. I respect and appreciate you sharing.

Thanks for commenting, Felix. What works for you and the customer and gets a sale is right. End of story. So if its a different way, take it! I found that a lot of what I was taught was good but that I could evolve it. It feels like that's probably the same for you too. Whatever is said, my approach has worked incredibly well for me. Great tip Richard, thank you! Follow up question....I see advice saying to put keywords into the headline as it helps to show up as people search, which I suppose is why people use job titles. Do you feel the keywords in this title or super important? I'm a web designer, and wondering if I should put the web platforms I build with at the end as an example

@@LeWebDad good question and the answer is that it doesn't make that much difference. Keyword search is at best going to see you found amongst a huge number of similar results. This leads to a tiny trickle of profile views. Far more effective is drawing in a crowd via compelling content, which leads to natural curiosity of who you are, shown by clicks onto your profile. The numbers are great this way, but even better is the context for how they land on your profile: genuine, conscious intent to learn about you, over indiscriminate shopping around.

Nothing wrong with selling your process (I find it works well when selling to doctors for example), but just make sure it has specific meaning and relevance to your buyer.

Richard, what are your thoughts of not receiving anything up front but splitting the payments evenly and you receive the payments before providing the service?

Good question, Louann. We need to be wary that the emotional "lean in" or receptivity levels of a buyer will drop away fast and so organising such a process where payments are made over time before work begins means that they are feeling pain without reward. This is dangerous because we want to give them a good taste of what they are buying so they can feel validated in their decision to buy. If they get nothing, while paying out, that suspense might have some uplift in excitement but more likely will leave them feeling a bit hollow. Ultimately, buyers want their purchase now. So, a decent deposit to begin with to allow them access to their new toy / service will feel like a better deal.
