The take away should be that you really need to run your digital music through a decent dac. Years ago I bought an inexpensive Schiit Modi dac and used it with my laptop. Very noticeable improvement and a must have for sure.

It has been a while. Eventh I’ve stopped chasing dragons but I can relate to your more favorable take on 1Kse. Always liked them but they were overpriced imho. With lowered asking price, it still has a place in today’s world of headphones. 👍🏻✌🏻

@chungang7037
@chungang7037 4 күн бұрын
@@YoZasuke Yes but that means an open box HE1000se will be even cheaper, maybe 1200 or 1100? At that price it wipes the floor with anything else from Hifiman and well worth the extra cost. Edit: I've dmoed the other Aryas [except for the OG] right beside the HE1000se, there is no comparison really now that it is 500 dollars more, totally worth it. The other Aryas have issues, the organic is painfully bright and fatiguing, etc.

After countless reviews I've yet to hear the sound stage is grander on the organic vs. the hek. I own the organic and find the bass very pleasing but the sibilance kills me even on an r2r and v281. Also I find the sound stage quite close and not too far off the Arya stealth.

HE1000 Stealth, only slightly better than Arya Stealth (which are 2 times cheaper), flat and rather dull. Arya Organic much more fun, but requires a more thoughtful pair, with a not bright source. For example R2R DAC like Denafrips Ares and class A amplifier, like Aune S17 pro

Do 192kHz-rated toslink cable sound different than a lower-speced one when the music is at 44.1kHz? I have a mildly fancy toslink cable ($50) and it absolutely sounded different than a generic 2.2 OD one.

Before buying the RME my feeling was that the Bifrost 2/64 may sound better but that with the range of settings the RME offered if I could not achieve a sound I loved it would be my fault ; Ironically I like it so much that I have been listening to it "As it came out of the box" My criteria for choosing all my components though are different to most people , call it neutral quality , as far as posible the only influence I want to hear are in my choice of valves. Another great video ,so new subscriber. Thanks . PS I did finally get to the sound I have strived for.

Klipsch have always sounded "metallic" to me. The BR03s are more neutral and "smoother". They image larger and wider, and are more forward than my MBL 323s, and far more sensitive. The Triangles do vocals, especially female, extremely well. Same with Jazz.

These Antal 40th Ann in Santos Rosewood look and sound spectacular! Even with 92 dB and 8 ohms, they do require a quantity of high current to open up. A perfect pairing with Triangle speakers I found is Electrocompaniet electronics. On many shows I have heard Triangle speakers so far, they were using mostly EC amps/preamps to drive them. I fell in love so much in that combo, that I bought a pair of Antal 40th in Blond Sycamore finish and Electrocompaniet ECI-6DX mkII amplifier = Jackpot! They play all kinds of music, even classical and rock crescendos with ease, you just feed them with a powerful amp and a good source. Happy listening!

ALL of the stuff he's talking about: jitter, RF noise, intermodulation distortion, can be measured, and measured to vanishingly small levels. DAC noise-floor modulation can be measured, and the DAVE is beaten by a cheapo Topping, largely because the DAVE's inherent noise floor is frankly mediocre (but still good enough that it's unlikely anyone would notice). If you want to sell Luxury Audio products with fancy enclosures and 5-figure pricetags, then that's fine. But don't spout pseudo-scientific wibble in an attempt to justify it. You're selling Luxury to people who want to belong to the club of People Who Spend A Lot, and that's all you're doing. Patek Philipe doesn't try to pretend their eye-wateringly expensive watches keep better time than a Casio because they know that's not the reason people buy them. Why do Luxury Audio makers dance around making fools of themselves by pretending otherwise?
@mikeg2491
@mikeg2491 2 ай бұрын
I’m a virtual shut in with and I bought a Dave, I’m not showing it off to anyone, I listen to headphones by myself. It sounds fantastic. Luxury means nothing to me, I shop at Goodwill for clothes which gives me more money for my hobbies like this. I also own some Topping stuff, they frankly sound sterile and boring with no dynamics. Objectivists have a weird view of what they think audio enthusiasts are all like. The biggest myth they spread is we lie to ourselves more expensive equipment means better. I like my Grado headphones more than a Susvara. Price tags mean nothing to me. I also bought my Dave used which again, if I was a “luxury shopper” who cared about image, I’d buy new, and the latest greatest thing not a 10yo DAC.
@hugoanderkivi
@hugoanderkivi 15 күн бұрын
@@mikeg2491I wouldn't call them objectivists; it's more like an ideology. If they were truly objective, they'd be open and willing to see the other viewpoint.
