I have a gtc vxr. And im loonking at buying a screen but not to clued up on storage and latest updates so could you give me some advice. Theres some on amazon for £180 2gb + 64gb ram and rom. Not sure if thst is any good. Also has adroid 13

£180 would be too low, you need at least 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage for it to be quick, as well as an 8-core processor, if the units you're looking at don't mention what processor they have inside, assume they have a 4-core processor and avoid them, until you find an 8-core unit, we also do one which keeps the VXR button which is here: www.iceboxauto.com/vauxhall-opel-astra-j-2010-15-navi-android-10-oem-style-radio-vx004

I’ve installed one recently, I don’t even have my idrive system on there how do I get it on? The screen only works with apple car play nothing else

You should be able to swap back, the only circumstances where this might not be possible is if you've not plugged the LDVS back into the CD host, you may also need to switch the radio on down below on some cars, it does depend fully on the car, and how it's been wired in, I'd need more info but those are some of the things to look out for

Hi Icebox, I bought a second-hand Mercedes SLK R171 that mounts exactly this model of head unit. Unfortunately, I haven't an instruction manual and I have a couple of questions: 1) what is the password to access the factory settings? 2) when I move in the items of the on-board computer using the controls on the steering wheel, I skip forward or backward the song played. Is there a solution to overcome the problem? Hoping that you can help me, I thank you in advance.

there's a bunch to try, 3368, 8888, 1234, 0000, 123456, and then for the wheel controls, you may need to access an app on the unit, usually labeled SWC, that will let you program the controls, either that or the canbus options in the factory settings area

The light we believe matches the revs in the car, although we didn't actually take note specifically our end, so I'm actually not 100% certain in all honesty, next time we do one of these we will find out for you

This is the 12.3" version, it is quite big, the 10.25" version is a bit smaller and doesn't block as much as the 12.3"

Can you use the BMW car radio (fm or dab) and an app such as google maps, at the same time? Or do you have to use an app for the radio as well?

You can, only thing with that is that the audio would be seperated, as you can only have one audio channel, which would be selected to FM/DAB, any audio on the Android OS Side of the system, wouldn't come through unless it was swapped over to AUX instead, so any calls, or alerts from the map, wouldn't come through the speakers

I have an issue where I put in the unit. But now I wanna take it out to add the external mic as well as the gps and 4g antenna but the tools to pull it out won’t latch and slip out as I try to pull. Any help?

How clear is the reverse camera display? Does it have a plug and play connection for the oem plug to be able to connect straight into the back of the unit?

It does work with the original reverse camera, however as the screen is larger, and the original screen was smaller, so it can be a bit more blurry than usual, also it does need some modification, not a straight fit into the unit, you can also fit a better reverse camera to this system

It does use the original reverse camera, it doesn't use the car's original GPS or Bluetooth it has it's own ones

It depends on the car, but usually it goes either behind the screen, behind the glovebox, near the amplifier wherever that may be, sometimes its under the passenger seat in, the boot of the car, or behind the central column, it is car very dependent on where the box would go, so without knowing which car you've got specifically I can't give you a specific answer just yet

Yes, absolutely, we can ship these worldwide, I don't believe there's any difference if this is installed into a LHD or RHD version of the car, so it should be a-ok for your car

There's a special frame version that lest you keep both the VXR and SPORTS button, it's an option on the website, the original buttons pop out your current frame and pop into the new system's frame

Yes, the only buttons that usually don't work after a system like this is installed would be the Bluetooth call buttons if you've got those, generally they're only linked directly to the original head unit.

Yes, I'd imagine you've probably got a newer Mercedes if this is the case, with the NTG 5.0 we usually supply a USB to AUX adaptor as this is usually the case, then you just need to select the correct media interface, it will even recognise that there is a USB/AUX connected underneath the little picture it shows on the media section of the head unit

You will have to download the application using a third party application such as a downloader app, as depending on the version of the item you've got, there may be a block on certain applications via the PlayStore, but there is always a way to get it on there, just have to do some research on how to use a downloader application and install third party apps to the system

Hello, I have been considering both 8-inch and 10-inch upgrades for two months now. I have the 8-inch Harmon Kardon system in my FPACE in Australia. I like both Android models, and understand both will work with my 2017 FPACE, 3ltr TT Diesel Prestige, may I ask a few questions: -Does the Android auto require a wired USB or Bluetooth/WIFI ? -Do you need a SIM card? Or can you use Android Hot Spot from your phone to use apps? -If I show you a picture of my 8-inch screen, could your team customise the side buttons ( 8-inch to the new 10-inch so they look and function the same as my old push-button ones)? - Or should I just go for the 8-inch upgrade? -Is this the latest model shown, considering it is now July 2024? - Sound - Does the Android sound system use the AUX? Only when in Android mode? For ~$1200 Australian, I just want to know that I am getting a great sound; it's a big outlay if the system does not perform well and support is a few thousand kilometres away. Cheers ML

Ok, so in ascending order, - No it can be wired or connected via Bluetooth -A SIM card isn't necessary, it can be connected to a Mobile Hotspot, although a SIM is convenient -The buttons can be customised in the back-end settings to match up with the buttons you had originally -This would be the latest model we've got for it, there are two ranges, the HV and the GMV, the GMV is the newer version although personally, I prefer the HV style UI over the GMV version, -The system does use the car's AUX for audio through anything on the new Android OS Side of the system, and can be changed to go back to the original DAB or Radio or whatever, but would always need to be set to AUX to get audio out the Android OS. Hope this helps

It would be Canbus related, possibly check to see if you've been provided the correct one, or one at all, if not you can go and get a new Canbus box from the supplier, or source one from a website like Connects2

Yes, the only ones we can't guarantee would be the phone buttons if you've got them, because usually these buttons are linked directly to the car's original Bluetooth, which becomes inoperative after the installation

Good afternoon . help me please. I don't have a connector on the Car (Mercedes w176 2014 )for AUX, only 1 USB Port. Which model should I buy NTG 5 or 4.5, although the kit for 4.5 does not include a special adapter for AUX-USB. I bought a 4.5 radio and I had no sound because there is no Aux input, although it is in the menu on the old radio in the section... so I sent it back. I want to get a new one and I’m wondering if NTG 5 will suit me? Thank you for the answer .

I would need to see some pictures of your car's dash to confirm if you had NTG 4.5 or 5.0 and you should be able to use a USB to AUX adaptor with the system to get audio working

Not the original DAB, you'd need to add either a DAB module or install a DAB radio app using data from either a hotspot or a SIM card, or if you've gonna use CarPlay or Android Auto, you can install a DAB radio app onto your phone and that will work also.

To me, that would indicate it's been wired in a way where, the camera is always receiving power, meaning the car's head unit is displaying the camera, even when it's not wired to the reverse detect, it's just taking power regardless, I'd probably check on the wiring, is it an aftermarket camera that has been installed?

On the Android OS Side of the system yes, you can also go back to the original DAB using the original menu, either the bosch or the harman kardon menu, if you wanted to listen to the original DAB in the car
