I am from the UK. I don’t know anyone who has had any kind of therapy; it is not really such a common thing here in the way it seems common in the USA. I wouldn't know where to look or what method of therapy to try. (I don’t have loads of money either!) I don't really fully understand what the counsellor or presenter were saying, though I do really appreciate their concern for porn addicts, and the work of FTND in general. I'm not criticising, just saying, I'm somewhat confused by this presentation.

Thank you for bringing this out. It really helped me. I've been thru a similar story. I was a single mom who just thought I had an abusive bf. I tried to get away but couldn't. My family either didn't believe me or refused to help. I still don't understand. This guy would steal my mess and force me to take drugs. It was a living nightmare. He beat me stole from me and blackmailed me threatening to kidnap my son and me and hurt my parents. I was trying to sacrifice myself to protect those around me but my mother turned any support system I had against me and tried to tell people I was an addict etc. I couldn't get away because I did leave my own apt and everything I owned behind to protect my son but he was tracking me somehow and had stolen my cat for months. The cops couldn't really help. He would say if I didn't come out of my parents house he would shoot them and he had a gun and was a felon for almost stabbing Aman to death which I didn't know and he had lied to me about in the past. Anyway my parents hated me andi was scared 25/7 with no one to turn to. Strangers tried to intervene a few times but I just couldn't escape him. He slashedmy tires many times to keep me from getting away too. Anyway eventually I went to a rehab facility to escape him and labeled myself a addict lost my kids and job and friends but it did save my life. I transferred hours away to a different facility to hide from him and then left the state. To this day my family treats me like a monster and I still have debts and legal issues that we 100÷ caused by him but at least I have peace and he can't find me. It helps to know others have been thru worse things and survived. How brave this woman is! Thank you for sharing. It gives me hope that someday people will understand how this works and stop turning against victims and blaming them for things they really had no control over. It gives me hope.

When I was a kid in the 70’s there was a saying maybe left over from the 60’s that due to the “free love” movement, prostitution was not as profitable- being young and naive I believed it but now I think they were exaggerating. My mom was all about human rights so we discussed whatever was in the newspaper etc. The only thing we are missing in our society now is honor killing and female genitalia mutilation, wait I’m wrong we got those too. Our poor women and girls. Maybe repealing section 230 might help, getting rid of statutes of limitations would allow prosecution of crimes over certain numbers of years. It’s different from state to state, some states don’t have them. Some states the clock starts ticking after it happens others after the victim turns 18. Mandatory self defense classes in preschools? Dear God, even babies aren’t safe. These crimes ruin the happiness of generations of people. We have so many luxuries at our fingertips and not even our children are safe.

She could work as a teacher but she didn’t know how to write a text msg? She could work at a job but she can’t take responsibility for her life. Regardless the abuse, if someone is capable of working at a job as a teacher they’d be able to go out there and expose all of this abuse. How come her father is not in prison for abusing her and r@ping her? Are all of these men in prison right now? There should be at least 3 men in prison for trafficking and r&ape!!!

This is y children get repeatedly abused, others who could have helped don't, but oh my does God let them know what they did?Onlty they can examine their countious, or the lack of one, surely that type of guilt will eventually eat them up.

I’ve read comments blaming Julie for “choosing” this man to marry. What they don’t realize is that many girls are taught that they are, “ruined” if they allow a boy/man to have sex with them prior to marriage. When she said, “I just wanted to be a good girl.” It ripped my heart out, as I too came from a very conservative home where having sexual relationships prior to marriage made one unworthy to be married.! “You are now ruined and no one else will ever want you!!” This young woman expressed exactly that! She had to marry him because she had been giving herself to him. Please be kind… if you don’t understand this mindset be thankful and don’t judge those who have lived it… she also talked about how those in their “ community “ would look down on him if she told they had participated in premarital sex. Again, all of this points to her naivety and being brought up in a very male dominated religious sect where girls are property.
