I love this idea. Does it work for sock knitting as well? It's a lot of work to have to constantly alternate wrapping floats so they don't show through when worn.

Hi, this is incredibly helpful! I am knitting my first Summer Tee and it suggests using German short. It is optional but I feel why not learn it now? I am a person that can’t stand the neck part of a shirt right up against my throat. I have watched several KZfaq videos to try and understand why I am doing what I am doing. Your explanations are very easy to understand and the different yarn colors helped me tremendously. I have subscribed to your channel to see what other helpful videos you have and will have. Thank You!

My problem is when I go back to knitting in the round. When I resolve a double stitch created from the pearl side, I got a little hole. How can we fix this

This is genius. Where do you get the stitch holder cord?
@flynnknitАй бұрын
Glad you like it! I purchased my stitch-holder cords from The Knitting Barber and absolutely love them! They come in a little tin with different sizes. 🤗➰

That was absolutely brilliant. I always have issues ripping back and tend to just do it and then pick up the stitches but what a great way to use the cord. Thank you for sharing.

You’re welcome! And yes! The cord is the magic! So. Much. Easier. 🙌

How do I do this on flat knitting
@vivianpowell1732Ай бұрын
Thank you so much! This is similar to doing a M1 stitch and then knitting it together with the next stitch, except you're picking up the M1 stitch from the float instead of from a bar. Maybe it could be called a Make 1 Float. I am now using this method exclusively to catch (or trap) floats in my stranded colorwork projects and find it to be the easiest way yet. It's very helpful to know that a long float is created on one row, but that it is not caught until the next row. You can plan ahead with less pressure. I also find that my stranded colorwork is easier with fewer mistakes if I write out a repeat instead of just referring to the chart. For example: [ 2W, 2B, 3W, 2B,1W ] means to knit 2 whites, 2 blues, 3 whites, 2 blues, and 1 white, for the repeat.

It looks cool, but is that the why? Also, how do you secure the ends?
@flynnknitАй бұрын
It was supposed to be a “cute little project” to display in my knitting studio. I had no idea what I was getting into! I used a dab of glue to secure the end so the wraps wouldn’t slip off. 😱

Seems like crocheting around it would be faster and easier, but don't worry, I won't be doing that, either. Not even as a "professional!" 😂

Definitely don’t do it! 🤣 My original intent was to slide a knit I-cord over the coils but it ended up way too thick and a lot harder to slide over than I thought! 🤣🧶

Wish I would have seen this video when I was making my sweater. I made a top down sweater without a pattern just on measurements and did some short rows on the shoulder. I did them backwards starting long Row first to a shorter row and when I came back around to resolve the right side double stitches, for some reason they looked a little wonky they kind of stick out on the fabric unfortunately. Lesson learned! Thanks I will use this in the future
