Great video! Would you recommend a 2015 passat tdi in 2024?
@hrdiesel6 сағат бұрын
Thanks! It depends on whether you have someone that’s good to work with it. I have a 2013 and have had no trouble with it and it has 160,000 miles. They are usually a pretty reliable car but can be very expensive to work on if it has to go to the dealer
@Rusty-Shackleford696 сағат бұрын
@hrdiesel Thank you for the response! I'm an ex mechanic. The car has 85k on it, and a decent amount of time per emissions extended warranty, which eases my mind.✌️

@@Rusty-Shackleford69 VW put an extended warranty until at least 130,000 miles on the diesel! It sounds like a good deal
@Rusty-Shackleford695 сағат бұрын
@@hrdiesel Thank you! I'm supposed to travel ~700 miles to inspect/purchase this coming week if it is what is represented.✌️

I just replaced a Suction Accumulator today Me and my co worker were wondering where the orifice tube was in that system. Thanks now I know. Probably could have just looked it up in the manual but I didn't need to just replacing for a leak.

@twiellie16 сағат бұрын
A version of Ford's long lasting Diesel lineup. A lot of them are similar but they're all different enough that most people just denote them by their engine size. 6.0, 6.4, 6.7, 6.9, 7.3, etc etc

Compressor is junk. Sent crap throughtoit the system. Replace that, condenser, and the orfice. Flush the rest. Pull a vaccum to verify its sealed and then refill.... If hoses and other parts are cheap id just replace them too and replace all the old orings but thats just me. Looks like you got it!

I got 515,000 out of mine. It ran great when I sold it. That said I'd never buy another. You have to spend a lot of money maintaining them. Even the batteries have to be top dollar or you will destroy the FICM if it doesn't get enough voltage. When something breaks its expensive. I have a family now and diapers to buy. I don't want to sink money in an old stupid truck. The new gas trucks are so much better and just as capable. Only 5% of pickup truck drivers "need" a diesel these days because the gas trucks have come so far.
@alexs9532Күн бұрын
When the compressor lets go you HAVE TO change the thermal expansion valve. I also like changing the condenser.

Idk,I don't own one. A couple of guys I used to be in a Bass fishing club with had them. One got a blown head gasket. The other guys had a blown EGR cooler. Luckily, both happened when those trucks were still under warranty. A guy I work with had one. He was having some engine problems going on. Luckily for him,his truck was stolen. 😂 Cuz,I know he couldn't afford to fix it.

It would get a new compressor, condenser, filter drier and all the lines either get replaced or cleaned. Customer has decided not to repair

What is the ticking I hear on the passenger side of this truck? My truck has the same exact noise
@hrdiesel3 күн бұрын
The Duramax is pretty famous for that. It’s usually an injector. Or a combination of valve lash adjustments, along with an injector.
@LBZDIRTYYMAX3 күн бұрын
@@hrdiesel I’m pretty sure mine is an injector because it started after I got diesel at a caseys. The engine was chattering like normal then started having a tick

Also my truck never loses coolant but my hose gets pretty firm after driving it hard, never holds pressure overnight should I worry about it
@LBZDIRTYYMAX3 күн бұрын
@@hrdiesel also I noticed in the head gasket part 2 video this truck had a bent valve? Could that cause the ticking?
@hrdiesel3 күн бұрын
@@LBZDIRTYYMAX I would not worry about it until you start losing coolant. It is normal for it to build pressure then lose pressure as the engine cools down.

I remember when cars and trucks had mechanical fuel pumps on the engine block. GM started placing electric fuel pumps in gas tanks in the 1970's and having to drop the tank to replace them.
