He's not the only Müller with such talent. There's another one with a similar talent who played in the 1970s. The one and only Gerd Müller 😊

He don’t need to be flashy like Neymar. He don’t have to have dribbling like Messi or Physical condition like CR7. He just 100% of Pure German Efficiency. True Professional. No conflicts. Real Role Model for younger players. Legend for Bayern. Legend for Germany.

Usain Bolt doesn't need football to be considered a legend in sports. He is bigger than any English Football Player there is. There are only few footballers that can claim to have a similar pedigree in sports like Usain Bolt.

I think partly his head wasn't exsactly in it, which means think he was just kind of done, after the, incredible accomplishments he achieved in running, and to be fair he was already in his 30s.

If you've been playing football for so long, you've certainly had some success, especially with clubs like Bayern. But he was never particularly good. yeah maybe he had a good season 12/13 and some games where he was really good. he is rather mediocre. Recently the guy needed 20 chances and still hasn't found the goal.

Kroos and Schweinsteiger or Lahm didnt have those flashy skills either, but they are one of the best in every team they played and all played consistend over a decade in starting elevens in the best clubs of the world. And them and Muller won the world cup and championsleagues together. They are jsut very very reliable and smart teamplayers. One of these guys in a team will make any team better. Every sucessful team needs players like this and those 4 are exeptional. Muller said in an interview that he concentrates on what will happen not with his pass but with two or three passes later and then decided where he runs. he said in the youth he was always runnign were nobody would run because he thought noone is going there so ill be there e.g. he sees people concentrating on the long post and he goes short. What makes him so freaking important is that he yells and talks to the whole team the whole time and tells them what will happen. He is organizing the full first line defense and when to run for the ball and so on. Watch any Bayern game during covid in an empty stadium and you can hear "Radio muller" almost 90 minutes even more than both coaches combined

this is one of the reasons why people need to understand the dilemma for the defener to face a left-footed dribler. The thing a defender needs the most for defending is his experience. They mostly act based on what they in their subconsciousness after thousand hours of experiencing one on one fight against his opponent. You can call it muscle memories. They need to read the move a head beforehand. But the problem is, how many left-footed dribbler do he finds in his daily training routine and during the official game. Compare it to the right-footed dribbler, the rasio is so damn high. The situation is the same with southpaw issue in boxing. Because this is still about defending, reading opponent's movement and anticipating. Just like in boxing, being a lefties is already like a bonus. The same in football. Being a dribler as a left-footed has its advantage. They have more efficiency, because not many defenders are accustomed to that situation. The situation is similar for an orthodox boxer fighting against a southpaw. They will undergo a special training, and find a sparring partner who is also a southpaw too. If a club has a left-footed dribbler in their team, then the defenders get an advantage, because they have someone to train with to overcome the issue in facing a left-footed dribller.

Intelligence is just as important of an asset for a football player as pace or skill. I've only played at a decent amateur level, but we had one guy who became a Raumdeuter due to injury. Before the injury the guy was an absolute beast in our league. He was one of if not the fastest and most skilled player in the entire league, but due to his injury he had to undergo several knee surgeries and missed almost 3 entire years and when he finally returned, even though doctors told him to quit soccer, he had lost pretty much all his stamina and speed, but he adapted very well to this situation. Most of the time he was just walking around the pitch reading the game, but when he saw an opportunity, he jumped into action or ditched out amazing passes that would make some pro players jealous. He scored less goals than he used to before the injury, but his assists skyrocketed and he made the players around him much better, because by walking around and reading the game, he often picked up on weaknesses of the opponents defense. He was almost like an additional coach

Correction: Byern was plagued so hard with injuries they had not enough Players to participate basically - so they took players from the Second Team (Youngsters) to fill up. Here, Müller was appointed and also another Player you might recognize, Toni Kroos. Both put the "Old Guys" to shame in performing way better than every single one of the "Stars".

...is it because he was a goal hanger? I have a very personal gripe about goal hangers. So Gary Lineker was the greatest goal hanger. It's the easiest hard job in the world. Basically, all you really need to be good at is finishing and front. Hero! Victory! Here's my story: my older brother is a classic goal hanger. He doesn't play any part of the rest of the game. But he get's the ball up front and can be guaranteed to score when he gets the ball. I was a defender. Goal hangers were my absolute nemesis. You can see where this is going, right? Sibling rivalry. There's a twist though. He supports Liverpool and I support Everton. So not only did he repeatedly embarrass me on the pitch by doing almost fuck all whilst I was breaking my spine for 90 minutes he also stole the glory when he occasionally interacted in a 'team' game and his team has done exactly the same thing. Cruel world. You are who you are though. True story, alas...
