Nicely explained! Thank you! But flexion of the knee is by the Hamstrings right? , Gastronemius Soleus it's flexion ( plantar flexion) at ankle only right?
@AnatomyPlus
@AnatomyPlus Ай бұрын
That is correct! Our hamstrings help us perform knee flexion. But within the superficial posterior compartment, we find the plantaris muscle, which assist with flexion of the knee (minimally). Some resources agree/disagree with its minimal role in knee flexion, because it works primarily as a plantar flexor.
@collinshardyproust
@collinshardyproust Ай бұрын
@@AnatomyPlus Oh yes, you're right. Didn't think about it. Although the hamstrings are the primary knee joint flexors, the Plantaris ( and also Gastronemius ) would play a role since they originate from the distal Femur and cross the knee joint posteriorly. Thanks for the clarification.

What is the difference between kinesiology and biomechanics
@AnatomyPlus
@AnatomyPlus 2 ай бұрын
Great Question! Biomechanics is a sub-discipline of kinesiology, where the focus is largely on kinematics. With this, biomechanics places a great deal of emphasis on the study of movement with regard to the forces that either produce or resist movement (i.e gravity, force, friction, drag, etc.)

@AnatomyPlus
@AnatomyPlus 8 ай бұрын
Hi @andrasivanchich ! That's a great question! Primarily, the arthrokinematic movements that we see in the joints pictured largely include the roll and slide movements. We'll see the roll arthrokinematic become much more prevalent within the knee joint. There's a video I have on here referred to the screw home mechanism that will provide a little bit more information on that: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/orOWe91jtt3Xfac.html
