If I dither, do I still need to take darks? Does dithering change the way I stack in DSS? I guess I'm curious as to how the stacking software will know which object to align.

Been having so much trouble finding the motivation to set up and use my skywatcher because all the short videos I watched never really explained it great. Decided to just sit down and finally watch this long one, and man was it worth you. You explained it so well, to the point I almost have no questions at all and I’m finally confident using it. Unless you have physically moved thw tracker after last polar aligning, no. Having said that, it's always good practice to check polar aligning after each subject too ensure its not even a little off.

I just picked up a mini and this has been the best video around even tho it's not for the mini. Just 2 questions. If I'm just using this for the Solar Eclipse do I need polar alignment? As If I'm using the app to control my camera (Z8) how do I control the f stop?
@TheLightExplorer4 ай бұрын
Hi there and thanks for your feedback. Yes, you would need to Polar Align for the Eclipse. You can do it at dawn then day of, or you can do a rough PA during the day using your phone. Just get an app that shows True North and then place the phone flush with the Mini and point to True North (after adjusting for latitude).

Great information. I just ordered the Pro 2i and was wanting to use it for the eclipse on the 8th. In the color setting using the app can you set the exposure speed for less than a minute. When I tried I can only get 5 sec as a min. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.

Glad it was helpful! Could you just rephrase your question? I think auto correct may have changed some words.
@shakeandbake95624 ай бұрын
@@TheLightExplorer thank you for replying. Oh yes love auto correct. While using the app in the solar setting can you use a decimal point in for the exposure. I would like to capture some fast exposures during the eclipse next week.

Makes sense now. I don't believe you can use shutter speeds less than whole seconds in the app. I would just get a cheap intervalometer like Phottix from Amazon.

Can the mount support telescope or only a camera?

It can support the combo as long as it's under 5 kgs. I would try and keep the combined weight around 3.5 to 4 kgs and make sure you're balanced precisely in both axis.

Hi and thanks for your feedback. You are allowed to hike in from midnight to midnight, the day of your permit. For night photos, I normally start my hike at midnight. But you really need to understand GPS coordinates and have route finding skills in the dark, Assuming you are going for the Milky Way, you will be going when there is no moon and that area is very dark.

I really like the way you explained why you don't have to but still a good idea to level the tripod. I saw so many online video keep on insisting leveling a tripod is the essential, but we all know it's not true, like you said once one manage to get a good Polar alignment done, who cares. I have seen s o many friends spend so much effort trying to get the tripod perfect level.

Thanks Danny. That really is one of my peeves - when folks keep insisting on leveling the tripod and spend precious minutes trying to level one. There is absolutely no need to level a tripod, unless one leg is so short that the tripod might tip over.

Purchased this pack awhile ago, still waiting for them to produce the pack. Once I get my hands on it and some trail time, I’ll throw a review up as well. It looks good! I heard they might be updating the belt. Not sure if it is an aftermarket belt or will come pre-attached to pack, but I know an updated belt is in the works. Great review!
@TheLightExplorer6 ай бұрын
I think you'll love the pack, especially if they attach the belt to it like they do for the Gila. The hip belt is the only point of weakness - but only for loads over 35 lbs or so. Most folks I know have their pack weight between 20 and 25 lbs. For those folks, this pack is just spectacular. Thanks for watching and look forward to your review video.
