Growing up bk in the 60s & 70s, our dad used to invite the whole bldy street over hm for a party, it was a common practice bk in the day. He got me & my siblings, 5 bro & 4 sisters, to sing the maori verse & he was the only one allowed to sing the pakeha verse to our mother. The funny thing is, it was our dad who ended up crying after the song

If you move to NZ it’s your job to assimilate yourself and learn how we do things. It’s not our job to cater to you because it’s our country, our language and our way of life.

You are like a flower plucked To be kept close to my breast, oh darling. You are the beloved one I have long desired Desired through all my days! My care will be for you to keep you from being spoilt by the world. May you stick close to me always a lovely flower that has been plucked! Why do people keep insisting that love comes and goes? You are the beloved I sought by night And by day, always! Oh that your thoughts may be true, Not spoilt by the world! May you stay close to me always, A pretty flower That's been plucked!

Unfortunately this 2024 Coalition govt has set about removing any and all traces of the indigenous Māori culture by reinterpreting the Treaty of Waitangi - an agreement between Māori & the Crown - WITHOUT MĀORI INPUT. The uniqueness of our Māori culture sets Aotearoa NZ apart from the world. We would merely be another European outcrop without MĀORI.

Don't speak slowly like a moron. Open your mouths and stop talking through closed teeth. Practice the actors Ooh Ahh exercises. And "How now brown cow" should be a natural for kiwi's. And the scots woman shows where the Kiwi accent comes from.
