Hi Brian.. Love your tips and detailed insight. I've got 3 Graco sprayers. 30y 390 - 495 and 695 and fix them myself. The 695 was bought used. Got it for a good price as it was totally drenched in paint, the top layer was a red color, oil based paint after it was used to paint a barn I think. There where hardly a spot of metal or blue to be seen on the machine housing or hose. Took a big brush and covered everything with gel paintstripper, the hose, wheels, everything. Was careful not to leave it on the machinehouse for too long and eat into the Graco factory paint. Toothbrush and scrapers etc.. Took it to the guy who sold it to me a few days later. He stood there gasping, it looked brand new. New seals and packings. Seeing some of the machines you work on, I wonder what the hell these people are doing. They have 15m of hose but It looks like the sprayer is 2m away from the substrate they Spray Mist from 1m away? I don't know ;-) I mean If you know it will be messy. I'll put some WD40 on and wipe it off afterwards, I cover the machine housing and move it further away. And I clean up when I'm finished 🙂

There are a number of things you can do to prevent this as you pointed out. It never seems to set in the minds of many of the painters. What I don’t get it how you at the beginning of the video, you couldn’t pull it then when you pulled spark plug you magically could pull it. When it won’t pull how do you get the fluid out and back at the start, how do you get it to pull…. Super confusing that you couldn’t then could. You skipped the entire part your videos title describes. :/
@Brian_the_repair_guy
@Brian_the_repair_guy 19 күн бұрын
@@KalebDHopkins sorry if I didn't explain it well in the video. Liquids cannot be compressed. With the oil in the cylinder, the piston is trying to compress the oil in the cylinder. This is why it is locked, there is no where for the oil to go. When you removed the spark plug and pull the oil is pushed into the upper head and into the spark plug hole. This allows for full rotation of the crankshaft and full stroke of the piston. If you pull hard like you are trying to start it, the oil will shoot out of the cylinder. Repeatedly pulling hard will force the oil out. Or you can spray inside the cylinder with an air compressor

I had left insides of my sprayer not protected over a couple of winters and that resulted in the large ball rusting and pitting along with the foot valve housing that was badly rusted... The packings looked perfect, this is a unit that rarely gets used and prob has a total of 25 hours on it, if that... Does Bedford sell all these parts for the 440i? @@fraydcat any kind of grease is good. The packing will come with grease if you get them. To check the packing, prime it.
