They are definitely eating the banana. If you look closely you will see the bees' proboscises lapping up the sugars in the banana. When the banana is sucked dry a shriveled up carcass is left, which the bees don't bother. Not sure what evidence Mr. Dunn is using, but you can certainly find just about anything on the internet. Hundreds of bees don't start eating dirt you put in the hive.

@@danielmichaelson7340 If you pile ANYTHING in the hive they will process (eat/remove) it. Even SUGER they will throw out of the hive if they don't want/need it. If they are in a durth they may eat/lick the sugar in the bananas but that should not be something you FEED bees. If you leave the bananas in the open the bee will not seek it out.

I have literally seen honey bees drinking raccoon blood. There is 0 question- bees get sugar from a wide range of foods including overripe bananas that are oozing sugars. I have seen bees eat bananas sitting out in the open. In fact here is a list of fruits and other sugar sources i have seen them sucking on out in the open: BANANAS, black berrries, raspberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, peaches, plums, soda syrup at a recycling plant, and probably some more that i am not remembering. Any questions?

They are not enjoying themselves, they are attacking the banana and are trying to remove a foreign object from their hive. If you have spent time with bees and understand bee behaviours, it is obvious. Bees don't eat bananas in the wild. They are not primates like us, they are insects. Their food is nectar and pollen in flowers. What this guy is doing is at best simply annoying the bees, he is not taking care of them

Lychee Myusic because you will not end up with pure honey, you will end up with Sugar syrup. Bees will not be as healthy as honey fed bees and will not require being medicated.

Lychee Myusic the bees make honey from sugar or nectar. If you feed them sugar all year long, that will contaminate the natural nectar honey. In winter, they have no food/nectar to collect so you have to leave them something to eat. Some people choose to feed the bees sugar syrup in the winter, I believe they are better off if they are left with enough honey to survive the winter.

Why are you so frightened of bees? I work mine in a tank top and shorts all summer... they'll let me know when I've overstayed my welcome. Long before they sting me. If they resort to a sting, it's painful for me, but deadly for them! Much easier for both if they warn and I pay attention.🤷‍♀️💞😘

I’ve wondered the same thing. The mouth of a Honeybee is more complex than it looks. The bee’s tongue works like a straw, but bees also have “mouth parts” like mandibles which they use to pick at solid food.

I'm a beekeeper and can say that the entire bee stigma was created by almond growers to try and create a situation where it got cheaper to rent bees to pollinate their crop. Every year 75% of the bees in the USA are trucked to the almonds. Crazy but that's the facts. By the way I like it. I've never had it so easy to sell my honey. It's not cheap for raw local honey. Try some.

Fructose is definitely a constiuent of honey so peach nectar could conceivably end up in the hive.

You can cut them out of foundationless drawn comb. The bees preferentially make brood comb if the rest of the hive has regular foundation. You can also use drone foundation. Then, pull them out and have at it.
