Really helpful video: thanks! I’m 59 and have been on transdermal oestradiol (with Mirena IUS) since I was 48. I’m a former athlete and used to have such good muscle mass. But I’ve lost muscle, despite strength training over recent years. I’d like to try a physiological dose of testosterone to regain muscle and maintain my bone mass. But to do so in the UK I have to argue that I want testosterone for low libido, which is untrue.

We have to do what the insurance company says more than what the doctor says. They seem to have a lot of say in my healthcare.

I applied the estrogen cream today, and the applicator 6 I used my finger. I am hoping this will help with dryness during intercourse. My man is ready before I am.He is satisfied and am not.

So I am 40 and I have had signs of low estrogen for a few years now. I have been with the same man 7 years and no babies with him and out of nowhere my vagina seemed looser and I was losing my bladder. I started 00.5 estrogen patches. Would this amount even help my sex life at all? Also, they gave me estrogen cream to use. I'm only a week in with the meds. I'm at the point we're I don't even have sensation in my clitoris, which used to be very sensitive. I feel like my sex drive bit the dust. Not very much interest, dry and not much sensation sucks.

Ok I understand the labs thing, but to a degree there has to be a general understanding of where the average population of women feel at their peak. Because symptoms like fatigue and brain fog etc can have other causes. If a woman comes in complaining of fatigue but has a testosterone of 80 then maybe checking for other causes is warranted. I had a doc give me pellets and my T shot up to 215. My hair fell out (never recovered yet and I'm 9 months post pellet), my boobs shrank, and I was so angry all the time. I did pellets for 6 months and I have no idea what my ideal range is. Pellets are horrible for women cause they shoot your T high and fast and then they plummet. They sucked for my husband too. Maybe if I could have done creams which would keep the T more steady I could have found an ideal range. But my doc just did pellets - which I suspect was bc he was making bank off of the pellets.

Thank you for a very informative video, because at the age of 71 I really was not very educated on this topic. I had a complete Hysterectomy when I was 29. Two months ago got diagnosed with Vaginal Atrophy and Vulva Lichen Sclerosis (LS) from my new GYN doctor. I am now at the point where I am on the maintenance doses of Estradiol Vaginal Cream twice a week and Clobetasol twice a week for the LS. This will be my maintenance routine for the rest of my life. I am okay with this if it will keep my vulva and vagina safe and healthy. I wish I had been put on the Vaginal Cream earlier to help with the dryness.

Good morning! I have a question. I use an aging repair cream from Musely that contains Estriol. I also have Premarin cream from my doctor for vaginal dryness. I’m post menopausal. Can I use both products? I want to use the Premarin under my eyes only.

Dr. Kelly, you make everything sound like common sense 👏 I've been on vaginal estrogen for a couple of years, starting E&P as soon as my doc calls it in and want testosterone. And it's a YES for the SEX talk for me!!! Thanks ❤

The numbers of estradiol vs testosterone are so confusing. If you convert testosterone to make it the same (units of measurement) as estrogen, you have to take testosterone x10 correct? Even if the testosterone looks "normal" it could be low in comparison to estrogen correct?
@Katepwe2 күн бұрын
Very interesting, we all should be so lucky to have a doctor like Kelly, but the sound was bad and kept cutting in and out and pretty choppy. I’m right there with you…..I have no desire/interest what so ever. Addyi is available in Canada but my understanding is that it is recommended for use in women before menopause. I’ve been told that testosterone for women is best from a compounded pharmacy.

So glad this popped up today, all adds to our knowledge and self help. I'm going between the private help and NHS. Just had a blood test where my GP said testosterone is a little high but I'll have another blood test in 3 or 4mths. I feel quite good but maybe my hair thinning that has been another problem is more hypo thyroid but I don't want them to stop my hrt.

I know we shouldn't focus on lab work but what if your total testosterone is within range but your free testosterone is extremely low. If you go on testosterone cream will that increase the total T or the free T that is extremely low?
@KC-kh5dv3 күн бұрын
The free T is most important and yes it will increase it.

Regarding the notion of not testing for testosterone. It only makes sense to set the goal of a blood level showing free testosterone similar to the level present during a woman’s thirties. Partly because this is when we are functioning well- full of energy and clarity of thought, full of motivation, a zest for life, full of a desire to plan for the future and enjoying a healthy interest in the bedroom. But also partly because testosterone is critical for bone health, brain health and heart health. There is increasing data that suggests it may play a protective effect against autoimmune disorders, and dementia. Get on testosterone. It is just as critical as is estrogen and progesterone.

Thank you 💛 I wonder why hormone products are expensive to buy. Are they also expensive to produce, or is there a big mark-up? I'm in the UK and so we have NHS prescriptions, but interestingly the most affluent areas have the highest number of HRT prescriptions, so cost isn't the only factor. But if it were inexpensive, it would be easier for women to access privately if not getting anywhere with their GP. Good discussion, Dr Casperson is such a good force for women 🤩xx

I have just turned 50. I have been late with 3 periods so far within the last 8 months, no real issue there… BUT the brainfog, memory issues, bad sleep, bad mood and nooo libido is just mindblowing, and I do not have any hot flashes yet, so I am not even in the middle of it- yet. I wanted to get in front of it all and went to 3 doctors for starting HRT.. first wrote me a prescription for an oral HRT pill without any examination at all. Didn’t listen to me at all when I insisted for an estadiol gel, not pill. Second doctor said that he did not really prescribe HRT, as it causes breast cancer. When we spoke further and I gave him a few points I learned from youtube doctors, he was more open and said that yes, it does matter how a woman lives her second half. So first he offered me tibolone but said I have to come back when I have not had a period for 1 year. I insisted more so he finally gave me estradiol gel BUT with the MPA progestin that was used in the WHI study. So this scares me a little… Third doctor said on the phone that I shouldn’t take Provera and go see him in person to discuss. In his office 1 week later, he now says that MPA progestin is fine and I should take it without worry. I feel like I am the crazy one, I am totally clueless now what is the right route. By now, I’m not even sure if it was the right thing to request HRT “this soon” at 50. Am I just being vain and stupid for wanting to start as preventitive measures?

I started with 100mg progesterone from pharmacy and I felt so crabby, tired and exhausted 😴 I asked to try lower 50mg SR progesterone from compound. Total game changer! The benefits help sleep but mood next day too!!!Keep trying as everyone is different 👍 Great conversation.. my one question …..is being 48 and I am on estrogen patch, progesterone and testosterone and feel so so so so much better …BUT I would say in the time since starting HRT I have put on 15-20 lbs. Exercising but not cortisol crazy type, eating healthy but not true keto and not crazy intermittent fasting.. but still can’t drop a pound! Just curious as to reason .. still some imbalance between the hormones ? I know they keep saying HRT helps lose weight but not for everyone. Thank you for all you both do for women’s health ❤

I am prone to milia and it's soooo annoying. I have a few around my eyes but they aren't really noticeable. It makes me very leery of certain products on my face due to this. But I am definitely trying an estrogen cream on my face. I am 48 and was pregnant last year (sadly lost the child in pregnancy). I haven't been told that I am in peri-menopause but it seems to be dismissed that I could be going through it since I still have periods and was pregnant last year. I also have PCOS. I am pushing to see a urogynocologist as I also have interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome. My psychiatrist actually told me about this channel here on youtube and I am so glad she did!!

Hi. I want to take HRT but I suffer badly with GERD and HRT made it so much worse and uncontrollable. I only managed 7 days before I had to stop and it took 14 days for the acid reflux to improve. No-one ever mentions this side effect and wonder if this means I'll never be able to tolerate HRT.

Hi Dr C. My gyn put me on 1/4 ml of testosterone cream this past Feb. It worked for 6 weeks and since then I can't find a dose that works. In May she increased the cream amount to 1/2 ml. I'm going back again in 2ks to discuss what to do. How many increases in amounts have you done with women ? Ik everyones bodies are different but I was curious how long it can take to get the dose right. I also do bloodwork before each visit and the past 2 bloodworks have not shown much of an increase in testosterone. The progesterone pills have been working. Thx so much

I started using estriol cream about ten years ago in my mid 30s (I researched it for the face out of curiosity and found “one” convincing article-I thought it was odd there wasn’t more out there), and I feel my skin looks much younger than my age, but I do have some mild melasma, but it’s mild enough that it doesn’t bother me, and it’s only on my upper cheek bones. I will also say it could just be good genes too though. My grandmother barely had a wrinkle in her 80s and her skin was firm for her age, so who knows? 🤷🏻♀️ She was beautiful on the outside but even more so on the inside-I think it’s her beautiful soul also that helped keep her looking so young. ❤️
