The ideal solution would be to open another veterinary university, because at the moment the number of graduates is limited by the number of admissions, which is limited by the resources and space available for students and animals As far as I know, finance is the main limitation, since a lot of resources are necessary to train vets, such as models, animals, space and accommodation Basically we need a few billionaires to sponsor a second campus 😂 But that would be amazing, there is such a shortage of vets Added to that is the problem that a lot of newly qualified vets immigrate as soon as they have their degrees to avoid doing their CCS years, but the university is apparently looking into ways to decrease those numbers

Hey! Luckily only from 3rd year onwards. In third year you will have IVD, which is all about diagnostic procedures, including listening to the heart and lungs, before that everything is just anatomy and basic animal handling

If I remember correctly, the only books I bought was my anatomy textbook (Veterinary Anatomy of Domestic Animals) and I think Veterinary Immunology by Tizard (but this might have been for third year). I think there might have been other recommended books, but they weren't compulsory and most of them can be found online I hope this helps!

You do not need any qualifications other than a high school diploma to get into vet school, in this video I list the minimum requirements (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g8h-oqin1tPVhYE.html) When you study your basic BVSc, you qualify to work with pretty much all animals, focussing on small animals, horses, pigs, poultry, ruminants and some wildlife. After that you can do as many extra courses and specialisations as you want, nothing stops you for furthering your studies at any point, it's actually encouraged 😊 there are also opportunities for the students on campus to further their knowledge in the different veterinary fields, like the OP Exotics club and the Wildlife group

Hey! If I remember correctly, all we had to buy for first year were our handbooks (which can end up being quite expensive), lab coats and clickers, which we used in class, all the rest were available to us on campus 😊

Hey! Having a further qualification definitely doesn't prevent you from becoming a vet, but as far as I know, you still need to meet the minimum high school requirements to be able to apply, but you can also email the university to to get more detailed information from them 😊

Unfortanately its not possible. I have Diploma in Animal Science and I went to the UP vet campus to enquire on how to i get into vet if i have a diploma. They told they dont want a Diploma but a Degree. Hope that helps
