Thank you for this wonderful video. It seems this is a very comfortble carding machine. May I ask you where could I find some similiar one? Thanks in advance.

Hi Sabine! Yes, I love this drum carder so much, and get a lot of use from it. It is very well made. I bought it from a lovely friend (her name is Sabine too!) in spinning group. She is near the Stuttgart area; The website is: www.holzwurmwolle.de/

I think you are talking about Katwise. She recycles sweaters into coats and hoodies. Her shop is on etsy and you can get the patterns.

Thank you!!🤗🌺 , greetings from Fort Lauderdale Fl

I wasn’t able to tell how the cross lacing worked. I have a Kromski Sonata, but I have had a lot of problems with it.
@fmgarman
@fmgarman 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Color of Hope Crafts! I show a picture at 1:58 and talk about cross lacing at 3:38 or so. Basically, load your bobbin as you normally would do. Now, which ever hook your single is around to load the bobbin, you will follow that thread. Unwind the bobbin slightly, so you can pull the single to the hooks on the other side. Allow the single to rest there. The boo in will now load onto the bobbin from there, and you have cross laced. Take a look at the time stamps I mentioned again in pause to see if what I have described makes sense!

This is a good spinning tutorial, but that’s not woolen spinning. That would use rolags and long draw. This is maybe semi-woolen since it uses rolags. But it’s really more of a worsted drafting merging.

Can u use roving
@RogueFibers
@RogueFibers 4 жыл бұрын
Yes! Absolutely. You just want to be sure to pull a full staple of fiber out of the roving, that way you can secure your "lock" into the knitting

I am new to all of this. I’m a hard core crocheter. So, where does one begin if they would like to learn how to do this and what would you suggest would be a good start? Like not deeply financial but a simple start?

Hi Sheri! A great place to start is with a drop spindle, if you want to learn how to spin. If you want to blend fibers, I would start with died felting fiber and hand blend the fibers together.

RogueFibers yes, I'm old now but since I was very little I've always wanted to spin, I crochet knit quilting... paint... You name it, but never had the opportunity to learn to spin and learn about different fiber you can make yarn out of (I knew the box stores acrylic very well) I've been watching millions of videos and I have the technique and the understanding (in my head) down pat. My first drop spindle and corriedale wool comes in on the 21st. All this time I thought you HAD to have a spindle to make decent yarn, now I know all I needed was some wool and a stick...if the fiber comes in first I'm gonna get a stick from out side and start!!!! Thank goodness for KZfaq and KZfaqrs like you, I'm gonna get to try out a life long dream!!! I might cry, so excited...lol!!!!!!!!!

Gena, that is exciting!! I'm glad you are jumping in with both feet. I prefer to think of the "rules" more like guidelines! I can't wait to hear about your experience after the fiber gets to you. I hope you'll share your journey with me!

Great video showing how the combed locks look. I enjoyed seeing how you comb using the hackle. Do you spin what you blend? I would love to see the blend looks after being spun.
@RogueFibers
@RogueFibers 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Cheryl, thanks for watching! Yes, I did spin the blend. You can see the masham spun from the comb, wensleydale from combed top, and easydale from the lock in my "Teach It Tuesday Ep 004" video here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b8eKlMV-0N7cgnU.html Do you have a preferred way to use the comb & hackle?

RogueFibers just watched episode 004 and it is wonderful! You are an accomplished fiber artist and teacher. You gave a lot of information as you went along. I used combs when working with Natalie's locks. So pretty and such a long staple. I have to learn to dye fiber. Only used my hackle once to blend a bunch of colors. Still have a lot to learn.

Did you say easysale? I haven't heard of this is it a cross breed ?
@RogueFibers
@RogueFibers 7 жыл бұрын
I did! Easydale is the name Natalie Redding affectionately calls her corriedale x teeswaters. The sheep have lovely qualities from both progenitors and are more docile than full blooded teeswaters. That makes them much easier to handle during shearing. The crimp is bold and fine like a corriedale, but has a longer staple and more luster from the teeswater genes.
