Not sure why you’d assume this is a premier league game, but even if it was: unless you’re buying season tickets, it’s actually pretty affordable to go, especially if it’s some sort of derby match. I’m certain that this isn’t the Premier league at all, and if I had to guess, he likely got a ticket for the equivalent of <£50 Also, I’m going to assume from your voice that you’re a young American, so you probably don’t know just how much football means to most of the world. There are a lot of people, and I mean A LOT who will throw whatever disposable income they have into getting season tickets for their club. I’ve met many working class football fans in London that spend everything they have to get season tickets. I think it’s a weird point you’re trying to make without much context, let alone understanding of football. It is not unusual for poor people to watch football and it’s pretty stupid to suggest that someone couldn’t watch a football match and at the same time, not afford a better phone

you underestimate some peoples love of the game he might pour every spare cent into going to the game and buying the jersey, having a modern phone might not be high on the list of his priorities chances are he is on minimum wage looking after a family also alot of africans are taking care of extended family also.

Yeah exactly - I’ve met plenty of working class lads who have spent everything they have on a season ticket for a London club. Also this definitely isn’t the premier league, I can’t imagine the tickets are that highly priced, especially if it’s not even the top national league or a derby

The tickets could also be gifted to him by relatives or friends that just wanted to treat him to seeing his favourite team play. And the phone also could have been second hand one from family member cause it still worked and probably made his day getting. Hopefully that guy got his smile back during the game
