"Hu/Xwe" means God in Kurdish. La Hu Illa Hu is the Kurdish version of the Arabic word La Ilahe Illalah. This means that there is no god but Allah.

Great by all means. Kurdestan is where Iranians can find some their music and cultural roots. To certain degree Armenia and Gorjestan have preserved aspects of Iranian culture and music. It is paradoxical that Iranian freedom from Western imperialism started with home grown Islamic intolerance. But we see Iran's growth in every field has started. It is a bit slow but it is going forward. Those who are 30- 40 years old, shall see the Iran's full blossom. Greetings from north California in the mid of Corona Pandemic. Easter 2020.

I was just wondering, I have heard that Islam does not allow musical instruments - only vocal music. Is that true ? Or this is not Islamic music ?

+Toms Melderis There are several denominations in Islam with different rules. In Sufism, music and dance is an expression of joy in God's presence . While Orthodox scholars say this is pagan sin.

In Iran we had a huge history and culture of Music and poetry. There are several different branches of Islam and while Islam based on Sharia law in Iran has been the enemy of music, the Sufism and Mysticim had music and dance as their integral principles. These branches of Islam were formed as solution to what was imported to Iran by Arabs which was not much accepted by Iranians since it was to "tough". And still the fight is going on and after the Islamic revolution in Iran 30 years ago the Gov has banned the display of musical instruments in public TV but who can bury thousands years of music and poetry in few years. May freedom prevail !
