One of my favourite artists...his voice, his music, the lyrics of his songs...the number one in my list, in fact...and, even though I didn't know how humble he was u til now (no social media by that time) that is something one can always tell !!...I'm so glad I grew up by the time he did, and listened to all of his songs...lucky me (and many like me...'m pretty much sure) 😉👍

Isn't everyone really tired of the GINO lounge lizard stuff...?? Get back with your Brothers. That is what made you great. This is just wanking off. I'll bet the majority of his fans say the same.

Wow! Norm's new 3.3M casa there off Puncatest is a helluva upgrade from his prior place on Seapowet! What an estate and right by the water! So wonderful to see that all of his steadfast years at PBS paid off for him as he's certainly earned it as a national living treasure! By contrast, Bob Vila's net worth post-PBS where they were paying him $200-800/TOH episode ballooned to an astounding 70M with him recently selling his Palm Beach pad for 52M. Makes one respect ole Norm even more for staying with PBS over his career!

I was 15 when her family rented a house for the summer in my small town in the Hamptons. We all had a lot of fun that summer. Nobody ever went home until around two or 3 o’clock in the morning.

We need more people like Norm that just want to share their knowledge and expertise with the world! no matter how modern the world gets, things are going to break or fail over time and need to be repaired or replaced. Only talented people can do these things. the more you teach the more have talent to keep the infrastructure thriving!

What an honor to interview Norm Abram, but to also be able to interview him at his own home that he built is a spectacular honor!

Great current interview from a year ago. That spectacular home is at 451 Puncatest Neck Rd in Tiverton, RI and is quite the estate! But the tax assessor has it owned by a Jeff Gruirrier Trust out of New Hampshire - Norm's name is nowhere to be found on it. Scratching my head on that one although if Norm is indeed the owner, he certainly deserves it and the water view!

Talking into a camera is strange. I don't think people fully appreciate this point, especially now, since everybody has _some_ social media presence. But at the time when he started doing this, there were no previous formats to copy; he single-handedly invented the genre as he went. Modern KZfaq woodworking can all be traced back to him. Even the impracticality of some of it is his fault, too; I can still remember my Dad, a life-long carpenter, rolling his eyes at the show: _Nobody is going to have a jig like that!_ No, maybe not. But now at least we realize that there are better ways to do things!

This format reminds me of an Seinfeld episode. Kramer bought an old Mike Douglas talk show set and I laughed so hard.

Norm Abram was a huge influence on my life. When I was a kid I couldn't wait to see new Yankee workshop and this old house every saturday. I idolized this man and he was the reason I got into woodworking and eventually opened my own high end furniture business. Opened it in a bad area in upstate New York and it flopped eventually. But I enjoyed every minute of it and miss my shop and tools immensely. Thank you for doing this interview I miss seeing Norm on tv.

Wow Sophie was very interesting to listen to. She definitely packed a lot of pearls of wisdom into that 10 minutes. I don't know why, maybe it's the simple life I lead now or my odd sense of humor but I'll never forget that saying " I can't make you happy all the time I'm not pizza " too funny. P.S. Never you mind Brian with an i what Tia has to say I have it on good authority aka the internet that Tia may belong to an organization called MPS ( mean people suck).

Hey I just thought I would drop in and post a line.....or maybe two. I just discovered your show and wanted to let you guys know that I really enjoyed the format ( including the lawn chair ) and your sense of humor. Back in the mid 1990's Norm was personally responsible for cultivating my interest in woodworking and furniture design. It was great seeing him again and knowing he is doing well. Such a genuine person and nice guy. I think it probably goes without saying that he built one hell of a pottery workstation for his wife.

I love Norm. I watched TOH from show 1 in '79. I started disliking the show somewhere around the point Steve Thomas was host because that was the point the show became an infomercial for every new product willing to give money to TOH production company (Russ Morash). The show switched from showing regular renovations that real people might be able to afford to insane projects for millionaires. That would be alright if it was not being done on the taxpayer's dime. PBS is no longer needed for shows like this as there are unlimited cable stations. Sadly for us taxpayers, Russ milked us for way too much money. The people like Norm, Tom, et. al. benefitted as well.
