I wanna go man I’m in really good shape and can run a 12:57-2 mile at 6,600 elevation but I’m terrible at retaining knowledge so I feel showing what I learned while I’m there would be the death of me cause I will forget or something

We had an ex Green Beret in our platoon in Germany, and on one cold German night on a field problem our platoon leader came by and told us to set up our radar nets. I was in the same squad as this guy, and we spent two or three hours trying to get that radar net set up over a .50 cal. with a Starlight scope on it. We tried all night long to get our radar nets set up, but between all the hooks and latches on our M1113, and all the hooks and latches on our web gear, and the finger numbing cold. we never did get that radar net set up properly. That guy had spent two years with the Green Berets in Vietnam, too.

Reminds me of the good old days on when I got to Pre-Phase on Bragg the only watch I had was the TIMEX I got from the PX LOL was a remarkable watch at that time. Had it all the way through phase training. After graduating the Q-course I was able to afford a newer digital watch :) I got assigned to Sig Co 7th Group.

CT operators training was deadly, we had to sign a death waiver in case of accidental death during the training. We had to train 14 to 16 hours a day with very little sleep which was very hard.

the difference between rangers from the Philippines and the US is before you are called a scout ranger you must undergo a test mission.

This is bullshit. I'd rather sympathize with the unabomber than a commissioned officer. The enlisted does all the work and get treated like shit where the officers do their administrative work and get the perks of better food, better sleeping quarters & etc... The enlisted is what runs the military not the officers.

It was great because I was nuts and loved it. Pissed me off when under water they turned off my gear and couldn't breathe, your react to training must be instant, metal tap gear code and someone comes to help till the problem is found. My SF training was incredibly valuable for this.

I was with special operations when I attended Airborne School. It was not as bad as some made it sound. There were moments that were hilarious, funny, and just plain old crazy. I recall that our class was kind of unusual because we had Marine Recon and Atlantic Fleet, Navy Seal Team 8 members, Air Force PJs, and Army 160th SOAR. I will never forget the 2nd Ranger Bn soldiers who were not afraid of anything including the black hats. One thing I recall during my time training was that no one was allowed to write anything down and all we were trained to do had to be committed to memory. I never felt prouder to have trained with soldiers from our sister services.

I honestly think navy has the least time at home especially when sailors are FDNF I remember I didn’t get to visit family members for almost 3 years while I was stationed overseas. An underway deployment can also vary from a couple weeks to 9 months sometimes too.
