Weirdly enough i had a similar experience with Ram, tried playing her, like the character, but in the end never managed to make it click. A played a bunch of other characters, some of which supposedly harder than her and was just easier to wrap my head around them. I still suck but don't get the "what do i even do" feeling. I kinda blame it on her "laggy" fS, it's good just not quite what i expect a fS to be.

In regards to the first post. My feelings have been almost the exact oposite learning the game for the past 6 months. Either the answers are too nebulous or are a link to a 2000 word essay on dustloop when all i want to know is when they are minus so i can press a button :P

Re: slayer having an above average win rate - I haven’t played the game in a while and consider myself intermediate at best. Since the game came out I eventually made it to floor 10 with Ky and got smashed back down and since then I have been hovering around the 7-9 and every now and then getting back up to 10. I switched to slayer and labbed a bit and I’m at level 70 and made it to the celestial floor lmao. Slayer is capable of so much robbery lol

As a pretty mid-tier player, I definitely like the changes. Opponents can't "one gimmick" that shit so easily. Also, it's a close race between Johnny and Testament on those buffs. Johnny's still high risk high reward, but now can dash like a boss and gets solid combo damage. So nice! And Testament can properly zone! Succubus tele now feels natural for staying at range and full screen arbiter means two things: you can layer projectiles and keep succubus on screen for options. Test's throw is also scary now. Both of these characters feel fleshed out and like they have options and I'm here for it.

(WARNING I AM NOT A PRO PLAYER SO THIS ALL CAN JUST COME OFF AS MEANINGLESS RAMBLING) I feel like some people just don't like multiplayer games and the fact that they all come down to the concept of risk mitigation that is fundamentally random(as in you cannot know what someone is thinking 100 percent of the time). So when the final option, when they "lose"(put into a disadvantaged state because of what the game's meta constitutes as error) feels bad, they feel like its the game's fault instead of just not realizing they don't like the game and how it will be played at a high level. A game can be volatile in a bad way such as in dead by daylight, the main problem with perks in that game is that they directly are antithetical to the way in which people want to play the game. NOED(Allows you to instantly down a survivor) adrenaline(Heals a survivor one state) and dead hard(gives you invulnerability on command making the killer have to play around a free hit essentially) feel bad because they directly are antithetical to the way the game is wished to be played by the majority (chase someone, get two hits, down them and take them to a hook while other survivors do generators). The way the game is cultivated consistently makes it feel bad to go against these things with their inability to be confirmed by either side not helping its case either. With characters like slayer on the other hand, in strive I feel like people just don't like strive fundamentally but they force themselves to play it. Every single character in strive benefits from cranking RISC and killing you. Slayer is just better at it than the average character so when you complain about these things that directly attack the fundamental way the game is played it seems like you don't particularly like the game and just want to complain especially when the character who does it sacrifices any safety that most other characters get by doing that. Strive is fundamentally based of immediate strong offensive options instead of setplay, the addition of wallbreaks fundamentally helps my perspective because while being decent in casual play, getting a wallbreak has been incorporated into high level play as well as far as I remember. Sol will always be better than ky because ky's main projectiles deal with incredible setplay potential with "safe" neutral player along to go with it, while sol just barrels forward at a million miles an hour and kills you in 2 touches and the game rewards him for that(positive bonus and wild assault). I feel like this comes down to the fact that most people have personal issues that resolve them from understanding what they like(and on a deeper level and specifically why they like that thing) add in the fact that social media is incredibly flippant and vain with their critcism it comes off to alot of people as mocking them for liking something especially when the aspects of a thing they like is overlapping with something the "Bully" in this situation likes. At the same time you shouldn't take me too seriously because im just some random dude on the internet. (Also Wish you luck on the content grind hotashi)

The best way I can put this is that thanks to the Internet and easier ways to get information we need the help of others less than ever. There was a time you had to be coached to learn these games at a core fundamental level but now? I pretty much have all that information right in my hands. Which in turn means I can now identify bad advice faster. There's a time period in gaming if someone says it you just believe at face value because there's literally no way to even prove them wrong most of the time. But since basic gameplans are more in the common knowledge of gamers nowadays discussions are waaaaay more volatile but because now everyone is so informed they're constantly calling each other out and people are more defensive than ever over their own advice. It's just actually pointless and meaningless to talk to any other player when you can really make your own gameplan and arguably should always be having your own gameplan. The only time it should be appropriate to be proven wrong is in a match when it's outside the match that's some pretentious shit.

I get 100% what the poster means. So many shit FGC content creators it's actually ridiculous. They think they're helping but they're not. Sajam specifically comes to mind when he gave an advice video on how to stop Sol during a season where the character he was using in his example, Axl, literally couldn't stop his pressure because he didn't have a 5 frame normal and FD increased blockstun. What were the self appointed teachers for the FGC like Sajam trying to convey? "Oh it's your fault if you find Sol broken. Clearly just lab it. Look I did." Just for it to be a straight up lie and to a certain extent shows he can't lab. I constantly think about this because I ended up on "Will It Kill" specifically because of his advice didn't work. That's what that poster means. I will get hit with advice from the "trustworthy source" just to end up realizing months later they never really gave a shit and just cobbled up some bullshit to make people think they know what they're talking about. I remember watching Rooflemongers breakdown on how to counter every character and just laughing at how he thinks the game is played. Almost anything Rooflemonger related is a complete joke. I can go on and on but dude these content creators giving advice just straight up suck at it. Which is why at the end of it all my ultimate conclusion was asking for any kind of help immediately makes you a less solid fundamental player. Figure it out yourself. You're copying answers on a test with no grading record.

REAL Sajam is a funny guy and has good advice about playing fgs in general but when it comes to trying to teach a specific game, GOD he's ass Remember him saying "just instantblock, lol, what are you gonna lose" like attempting it won't put me at risk of getting hit 😭 I believe you on what you are saying too, he is incredibly out of touch Haven't watched rooflemonger though, always hated him and heard he is a bad person to boot, well, good thing there seems to be no reason to start LMAO Edit: wanted to add sajam's counter to long combos: "just burst lol" as if im not gonna get combo'd for another 20 seconds instantly after 😭

@@Permafrost1His video on IB had some issues, but the core concept was pretty solid. The thing he didn't convey well is that he isn't aiming his timing for the moment the attack makes contact because if he's late, he gets hit. He's aiming early so if he's on time he blocks and if he's late he IBs. I remember watching this and thinking it was not very clear. It still relies on you grinding out the timing on lots of different blockstrings, as well as not working at all on manual delays.

not sure if the last sentence is a joke or not but that statement sucks super ass. asking for any help is a really useful step in the right direction even if the thing you ask about is super specific cuz it can literally help u discover new things abt ur character that u never thought to try. also its so much easier to ask someone whos good at the character ur struggling against what ur doing wrong than just bashing your head into that character until you win by just looping offense

My personal struggle was to get any sort of advice in the first place. Maybe it's my writing or because of how social media works, but I stopped using things like reddit to post questions about Strive. I used to record footage to make the context clear, but I'm demotivated to do that since chance of getting a response from even one person is slim. My best solution so far is to ask directly at someone who seems to know the answer and that took me over a year or 2 to figure out. I've been playing as HC for over 2 years and even though I can't reach celestial on JP server yet, but I did manage to collect enough infos and tips to improve so I think I'm doing good.

But mainly for the tournament discord : you play tourneys, play firendlies, naturaly get to talk and you get informations about everything that just hapend. It really helped ma as a player i think.

because redditors rarely play the game. you’ll notice that people rarely play the game or have horrible takes because of their lack of experience (but will swear by them) also jp tower is significantly harder from experience, im confident floor 8 players would wipe weak celestial players in NA.

14:22 it's not that it's high level, it's just poorly organized for viewing. There's a lot of trial and error shown which does not sync with the explanation. Saying "this range, 2H is scary" doesnt really translate when you continuously show yourself fidgeting the character position. So until you bust out the pen and start marking the screen, the explanation is unclear. Saying that "this is where you want to be" then repeatedly demonstrating being stuffed by 2H doesn't make for a clear explanation.

I quit strive about a month ago, and I used to post there fairly often, although you didn't go over any of my posts in this video. The game just stopped being fun for me. I can recognize my own flaws as a player, I know that I make many mistakes and could be way better. Ultimately my problem is that I can also recognize the mistakes of my opponent, and sometimes I will play better than my opponent and still lose which is just infuriating. Granted, there are also times where I play worse than my opponent but I win, but these wins don't feel earned. Characters such as potemkin, Nago, and slayer especially feel extremely random sometimes, with their ability to win in very few interactions. Also floor 10 - celestial sucks. I wish strive had a real ranked mode.
