Those are post savers. They protect the post around ground level where it is more likely to rot. When correctly installed will add 5 years+ to the life of the post.

Why did you make the notch almost 60% of the trees diameter on a leaning tree under compression?
@gorillagroundsandgardens17 сағат бұрын
The start of the video is showing a bore cut in preparation for what we call a dog tooth. The notch was only around 15-20% of the tree behind the hinge.
@yahsservant75092 күн бұрын
I'd take the bar and chain off before trying to get that power head out.. you're risking the life of your saw Bless
@gorillagroundsandgardens17 сағат бұрын
We did consider doing this but decided it wasn't required in this case.

Do you prefer stihl saw or kress saw? Thanks, you did a great job 👍🏻
@gorillagroundsandgardens6 күн бұрын
The power delivery on the kress saw I would say is superior to the Stihl. The Stihl is a more professional saw with the felling sights, captive bar nuts etc. For felling I would choose the Stihl all day but for bucking and cutting firewood the kress would be the winner.

Do you prefer the battery or the petrol?
@gorillagroundsandgardens7 күн бұрын
They both have their place. I prefer the petrol when noise isn't an issue. When chipping the battery saw is far better

So this is what torchwood shoots?
@jameshancock188 күн бұрын
I like mine thicker than that. Not much but enough that it can be applied with a trowel and not drip off or fall off
@gorillagroundsandgardens8 күн бұрын
We tend to use a brush. If there are only a few slabs left we get down to trowel consistency at the end of the day.

It may get the same result in 5x the amount of time. Time = money so for us it is £12k well spent.

We are always aware of kick back. Head position is a very big thing in the training and good habits like keeping your thumb wrapped around the handle. I hope you recover quickly.

Rescued! Sometimes ok to take the power unit off so you have only the bar to mash. However, no dramas on this occasion. 👍

You need to work on doing a three point turn, using the zero turn feature damages the lawn. Look up Spence Lawn Care, watch some.of.hos videos, especially on turning.

We a currently in the process of having a 60ft Conifer taken down as it has destroyed the back wall and stops the whole garden getting any light. Any suggestions on what we can do with the logs? Want to make use of them in some way
@gorillagroundsandgardens12 күн бұрын
These logs will be seasoned and sold as firewood. They are not the best firewood especially when not completely dry. But at least they are being used.

Is this a school on how to cut fallen trees? I have worked more than thirty years Logging, running a sawmill and now I can see why people complain about the cost to cut tree's by this new type of faller, maybe i am old school but we got the job done in half the time!!!!
@gorillagroundsandgardens16 күн бұрын
This is a course for dealing with windblown trees. Where we are qualifications and competence is required for insurance and safe working. Old school may be faster but comes with a higher risk of death or injury.
