Greatest respect! I myself love fishing for fun when home in italy. And then work offshore in north europe. But my limit is 6 weeks and is already hard. Better 4 weeks. I could not imagine staying away a year. Maybe when i was younger and single, but not now. Anyway, there are often philipinos on board and i know they do 4months. You guys are always super friendly, it is you culture

Long liners are detrimental to the fishery. Any long liner that claims to be a conservationist is simply a hypocrite.

many words of wisdom the professionals know how to kill fish quickly and bleed them and chill them PROPERLY. it absolutely kills me to watch some yahoo MF drag a fish behind the boat to kill it. all chefs should be more educated on these practices. the reason for a quick kill besides ethically is the nerves in the fish body continue to produce the enzymes that burn fat for energy. less fat = less flavor !

From where you were to what you are now, this is positive personal evolution, positive and constructive self reflection. You constructed a better you, through trial and error. But always moving forward, never perfect but always trying to be a better you. Congrats, mahalo and salamat for being that example.

I loved watching this and seeing his Dad John. John and I worked on San Diego charter boats Bottom Scratcher and Sand Dollar in the 70's before John headed for Hawaii to fish just like his Dad and other family members did for so long. What a great video to see Travis carry on the Myking tradition! Best regards, Captain Dan Walsh

god bless you and your family. and big mahalos for putting this together. it brought me to tears. I was part of the fleet there in the eighties. had some big BIG trips fishing out da islands. I still miss those waters like you won't believe. now I teach young men to commercial fish on da east coast. I don't make a lot but its so rewarding in other ways. can't wait to watch the rest and future vids. mahalos again. CL

@@jacobgreen6939 Deduction from the macro of the 'problem' to a singular micro is not sufficient in a calculation. the vid has a weak agument for sustainablility. Hook and line may do less damage to the resource and the ocean? If you and yours are hungry sure go catch a fish, but to be stuck in a rut of terdition or to pose as if your vocation is you're calling. We'll It's just not as romantic for our children. @@laroccafishing4771 fishing line & nets is plastic. just like industrial sugar can hurt the reef. Industrialized long line hurt the Ahi. Time to move on. Leave it alone. Time to chase Japanese boats away. Lead by example.
