I think its a great location! Many people prefer the opposite end of I-Drive but I much prefer universal end 😁

Ah amazing! Whereabouts are you staying? Still mulling over the beach idea....I tend to get bored very easily so like other things to do at the seaside 😂

We are staying at The Avanti Palms, not far from you. Maybe we could drive you to Clearwater beach, maybe spend some time at Busch gardens on the way. We are also going to Discovery Cove so have free entrance to Busch Gardens.

In 1992 we stayed in Orlando for two weeks and the last week was in St. Petersburg beach but we wanted to go back to Orlando.

Ah 1992 was my first ever trip! I was 14 and went with my parents. We stayed on what is now the Rosen International (by the big McDonald's!) Yes I know the Avanti Palms well, stayed there during my 2022 trip with my Mum. Nice hotel, it was just the housekeeping (or lack of!) that let it down! Would be lovely to meet you over there - I go home on the 23rd so will be there for a few days of your trip!

@@kezzakeane I stayed at the Avanti Palms 8 times when it was The Holiday Inn International Resort. It was 4 star then and the housekeeping was great. We booked to stay there and cancelled it after reading the trip Advisor reviews. But then we needed to save some money so rebooked the Avanti palms. So fingers crossed, I’ll take my own floor mop and dusters. What was the Rosen Inn International called in 1992?

Stopped there in 1997 when it was called Las Palmas and we went to Wet'n Wild a few times as it was great fun,. I remember the hotel overlooking the lake where the Westgate Plaza, going to Dunkin Donuts quite often, Ponderosa for breakfast etc. Back then i'd never seen so much food places, shops, tourist attractions on one very long road. Weather wise it was very hot and that was in Spring. We dodged alot of the storms as they usually rolled in after we'd finished visiting places like Epcot, Universal Studio's etc. We tried to do as much as we could in 1 week before going to Clearwater for the week after.

Omg this was such a great video brought back so many memories. I remember when it was roadway, Inn, and right across the street was a waterpark called wet n wild which I believe they demolished. Hotel still looks the same. We had a very nice stay for 4 days and the breakfast was superb. I would not mind coming back and staying at that hotel again.

Thank-you so much for your comment! Yep Wet 'n' Wild was indeed over the road, but now it's Universal's Endless Summer resort! This is a great underrated hotel, I always recommend it!

Nice wee video. We were looking at a couple in the area and Avanti always springs up. Glad to hear you recommend the rosen closest to universal.

@Bombsterdelux1 Honestly you can't go wrong with this hotel. The Rosen...well, I could tell you some stories 😂 They have a nicer pool but apart from that I wouldn't go back - plus the resort fee was a big extra lot of dollars to find.

I really enjoyed all of your vlogs from Orlando! I'm thinking of doing a solo trip to Orlando next year so I found it really helpful. I'm used to solo travelling but not yet been to Orlando by myself, but have been with family previously. I also usually book "piecemeal" as opposed to packages. When I've previously been to Orlando though I've hired a car. I'm not planning on doing that if I go by myself. So my question is, how did you get to/from airport to I-Drive? Thank you very much, great tips

Thank you so much I really appreciate your comment!! I got an Uber from MCO (terminal C) and honestly it was a piece of cake and so much easier than waiting for a transfer!!! I'd 100% go by myself again....do it!!!

Did you try the food at Green eggs and ham? Hidden gem. Been loads of times to universal ilioa but only walked past, tried it in feb 2022 visit and loved it. "tatter tots" and various toppings. Mmm 2:34

Hi Kerry, I have just watched most of your videos. I love them, you are so natural and honest. I have also been to Florida 10 times. But I have not been there since 2002. I am going back September 2024, propably for one final time. We were booked at The Avanti Palms, that used to be The Holiday Inn International Resort. My late wife and I loved it there but after reading recent trip advisor reviews, we cancelled and are now going to Drury Inn & Suites on Turkeylake Road/ Sandlake Road West. Keep doing your vlogs, I love watching them. I live in Rye.

we stayed round the corner (22/8 to 31/8) in an awful hotel the grand (on universal boulevard,wouldn't stay there again but this looks great)

Thank-you so much! I booked through Travel Republic on that last trip. I always send my request via Facebook messenger and then remind them a week.or so before I go and they always say they will try their best! I've faced the other way once and it's just not the same! You can see Universal but not much else so definitely ask for a pool view 😃

@gemmadavies4010 a combination of overweight suitcases, part of my arm rest breaking on the plane and they wanted to move my seat - and then stress at the baggage claim after an hour of waiting they said 100+ people's cases were still in Orlando - but people had air tags in their cases so they knew they were sitting on the tarmac somewhere! It was really stressful and took ages x

The old Roadway Inn from many years ago. use to stay there during my Southwest vacation packages days. Back in the days the DQ in the plaza next door would have BOGO banana splits. We always got the theme park view. This was way before Volcano Bay was even built.

Loved Boggy Creek when we went there in 2018. A day away from the hustle and bustle. Tried Gator tail nuggets. Half a day there then back to Gatorland. You’re brave going on your own.

While doing some scuba certification tasks on Crystal River in 2008 I ended up swimming face first into what I thought was the bottom of the river because my mask fogged up and I lost my bearings. Turns out what I thought was river bottom was actually the side of a manatee... My dive buddy thought it was hilarious.

@@kezzakeane Before putting on our dive gear my buddy and I were snorkeling away from the crowds and found a lone manatee which made its way towards us. Maybe 5 seconds later we were literally overrun by kids grabbing at it. Very disappointing.

I know when I get home ill be like "oh I should've bought that!!!". I spent ages walking round trying to find the flavoured sachets you add to water but had no success 🤪
