The CGHE has indeed achieved a lot under the stellar leadership of Prof Simon Marginson. I feel privileged to be a part of the CGHE network, truly inclusive and the most effective one, I suppose. All the best to you, Prof David Mills..looking forward, Saumen Chattopadhyay, JNU, India

This is one of the best seminars I have listened to at CGHE. Thank you for your contribution. This is an excellent job although I think the title can be reconsidered because it talks mostly about the transformational force of HE: policy and leadership.

To look BEYOND earnings? Riiiight... Teaching the youth again that they have a duty to their country and that pay doesn't matter I see... Just like what you indoctrinated the Junior Doctors with.

Is there research on the debt of UK HE directly? My impression is that the income from fees encouraged investment in spectacular buildings , partly to attract more students. It has been claimed that academic salaries cannot be increased because some employers are under financial pressure. But details are obscure. Has all the building been paid for? Also there seems to have been little UK investment in MOOC platforms. Futurelearn now owned by Global University Systems, based in Amsterdam. But maybe there has been investment in cloud futures? Maybe the building investment and maintenance budget is such that online is not considered. Clues welcome.

No mention of moving online. Would this reduce costs? Any other business that realised customers could not afford the current model would look at costs and technology. Sorry to look at HE as a business. Just a question.

Latterly not going to Professional school because it's not worth the ROI. Going to trade school for free.

About 20 min in online has failed claim. Consider the MOOC scene. Harvard / MIT got $800m for EdX at the peak of the postCovid online mania. This is the only financial success so far. 2U valuation now much less than this. But Coursera share price is recovering. Someone please do a proper study. I just find odd bits every so often. If USA wanted same sort of proportion of outside students as UK / Oz ( see previous slide on this video) they would look online? just a guess.

Gatekeepers? Google contribute to courses on Coursera, mostly tech. They then offer jobs. Maybe not recognised by academic journals but it seems to work ok on some level.

So that's what is useful for me to consume a webinar that is different to my discipline, where I can gain perspective and new outlook. It's helpful for transdisciplinary thinking development.
