THe strings themselves changes the tone, and we can't really have the magnetic pickup working with Bronze strings

A great, useful Demo! Very consistent playing. This is how to do it perfectly.

"Apparently it take 15-20 years"... lol, no doubt Joey, but you did it! All great guitars and pickups, very nice find on the Gold Top R4 CS! I've loved SGs from the 1970s but never owned one till a few years ago as a senior citizen. It's a walnut 24 fret 2018 Special with stock Gibson DeCola dual rail minis (Firebird covers over non magnetized rails with bar magnet under). DeCola dual rail minis sound kind of Firebird, kind of hot Telecaster, kind of P90. Narrow thin neck is easy on my arthritic hands, doesn't weight a ton. Also got my first set of P90s in Gibson Tribute Special a few years ago. Between those two guitars finally I have all the satisfying blues/rock tones I want. Can't believe i never did P90s long ago. Still, I'd like to get a '61 SG with Burstbucker 1 / 2 at some point if I can find a good deal on a used one in Canada.

I'd take the SG. It has humbuckers and a solid body which means it should be able to handle any surprises at the gig.

50/50 i thought both sounded good. the problem is a percentage of listeners already have the mindset squire products suck. so, of course they nay say them. A good guitar player can make both sound great.

I guessed right, and I do prefer the strat but honestly they arent as different as I thought they would be.

Got mine earlier in the week. Blows my mind how good it sounds and how it feels to play. Minor tweaking of the truss rod and bridge. Intonation was spot on.

Damn. Great demo. Your 57 classics have way more definition than mine. I have a 2014 sg with them and they can soun pretty muddy sometimes.

I have been very happy with my (sunburst) Casino Coupe especially since I replaced the stock bridge with a Gotoh… I was getting buzz from the loose retainer spring n the stock bridge… also when I was adjusting bridge height, by mistake I had let the inner bridge pin come out above the height of the top surface of bridge itself and it was vibrating a little bit, screwing it back down and adjusting the bridge height only with the lower adjustment wheel, solved that problem. When playing at low volumes, hearing the natural resonance blend with the amplified sound, is very nice. It’s super comfortable playing seated. Sounds lovely unamplified when just noodling. One forum said: “The CC P90s are same as in a Casino… Did a search of Epiphone's site and this is what they say about the P90 Pro pickups; "Epiphone P-90 PRO™ single coil pickups have been designed and tooled from the ground up with new bobbins manufactured to historic dimensions, Elektrisola magnet wire, sand cast Alnico V magnets, and pole shoes manufactured using correct alloys to original classic Gibson dimensions. T Type Pickups Good? I’m fixin to pop on one. Some naysayers on the T types vs. the old pickups. My only question is which pickups would Alvin Lee want in his 335 with the peace sign sticker!

It sounds like you said that the Strat has a "NATO" body. The subtitles also say that. Older Strats were always alder or swamp ash, as far as I know.

Arch tops acoustically project mostly midrange frequencies. It comes down to the fact that playing a flat top is going to sound more like listening to a good stereo and an archtop is going to sound more like a small transistor radio. It certainly sufficient to hear if you just want to get some quiet practice in, but I don’t find it a pleasant sound at all, and it doesn’t make me want to play when my sound is coming out like that.

I think he would have written the same songs but only sound better, esp. with a les paul loaded with P90's like this one in vid, sounds amazing, Peace

The Epi Muse has less depth and is generally brighter but still sounds great and is fantastic vfm.

Are the P90s wired to be hum cancelling in middle position?

Meaty, bouncy and full-bodied. I have a 65 Strat which sounds close to this but I prefer the clarity of these new ones.

I was obsessed with finding one of these guitars three or four years ago and eventually gave up hope, very similar to Joey's experience. The few I occasionally saw on Reverb were either outrageously expensive or had been butchered with mods. One popped up on Marketplace this Spring just an hours drive away. Mint condition, no mods, perfect. I've been playing it exclusively ever since. Absolutely love this guitar and the fact that the bigsby is problem free compared to others that I've owned. Squier knocked this guitar out of the park and I am so happy to finally own one.

You would need to install an acoustic pickup into the hollow body. Maybe then it might be better.

I really enjoy your videos as I am considering the fat 60s and the pure vintage 59 pickups. Do you have a video comparing the two? Which would you prefer? Me, I play mostly clean but I do use overdrive and distortion on occasion. I'm looking to put a set in a 60s strat but I can't decide which set would be most versatile.

This is a great demo of these pickups. There really wasn’t much of anything like this available before I got my ‘21 335, and this would have been a comfort. Granted, once I dove into the sounds in the guitar, I absolutely fell in love with the sound and abilities of these things. Dialing in the heights will be imperative, and once I got them set to my ears I can’t see ever changing these. Great work!

What’s the point of doing a demo using a rig etc…?? Pointless..play it all through a standard amp with no effects and everything at mid position through a totally clean sound…you are altering the tone by your own preferences..😼 However your playing is excellent 👌

wow, huge difference imo - I own a Helix LT (love it) & while the Helix clone sounds fine the mini here sounds warmer, more full & even fairly different - imo the winner is the Ibanez which will be purchased in the next 5 mins lol

i’ve watched this video like 5 or 6 times over the last year and a half, trying to convince myself that i wasn’t going to buy one, that i was satisfied enough to listen to someone else play one. needless to say, i finally pulled the trigger. after a sleepless night, and in a bit of a haze, i decided it was something i needed to at least try, especially since (as of writing) it’s a full $110 cheaper than the standard epiphone 335s. i’ve played all sorts of guitars, but never really spent any time with a 335, so i’m incredibly excited to play this one. as an aside from my gas, this is a genuinely fantastic review and demo, with some equally fantastic playing. an excellent video overall

I'm surprised by how much I like the Rivolta. I think the Rivolta and Strat would sound good played together.
