Thank you for this opportunity to learn here. I am enjoying this instructor a great deal. Hello from Canada :)

i'm rewatching these lectures after 5 years. And i believe that Dr. Mitchell explained everything so well throughout the series, that it stuck with me. Especially the concept of Opportunity cost, which, just like he suggests, can be used in all aspects of life. And i've benefitted greatly just by prioritising things. Thank you very much, Professor!!

It would have been awesome if Almanzo played the fiddle. Pa died in 1902.. quite young.

Did those students really say they will need 10% more effort to go from 90% to 100%? Unbelievable.

Why would the price of the next unit supplied increase if usually the bigger volume produce is lower cost to produce? Tooling is already paid, labor better trained for the job, technology is well established, etc... And other than that, if the quantity supplied increases, wouldn't the price go down as well because you bring surplus to the market, in this case shifting the supply curve?

i was thinking the same thing, i think this is a simple way to explain it, in reality they are willing to supply more because the price goes up and so they can make more money (assuming the cost remains the same) but he wants to emphasise the idea of them needing to sell the product at higher price than it costs. also if you look at a really large scale these economies of scale you talk of will stop and what is known as diseconomies of scale will come in.

i think with a lot of online learning of complex topics like this you just need to trust the process. as long as it is from a reputable source anything that seems wrong is likely a simplification that is needed to get ones head around the fundamentals before moving on to the full explanation.

Can't there be a co-existence of both approaches (positive and normative)? Isn't it obvious that sometimes we have to make value judgements? Otherwise how can you separate economic goods from economic bads without making any value judgement?

Fantastic job on this series. Thank you Missouri State and Dr. Mitchell for making these free to the public!

On the truck example, there is a problem overlooked that is a main cause of death; the verticality and angle of impact of the front of the truck. On older trucks with different standards/engineering, the front was lower and grilles of the size they are now weren't in style, resulting in a safer situation if they hit a person. Fortnine has a very good video on the topic, but to summarize, it's getting hit with a wall instead of a wedge.

Taking a moment out of watching every single one of these lectures to say how very generous it is to provide all of this information! I just reread the books again and my impressions of the treatment of the NA storylines agree with yours entirely. Problematic, yes, but nuanced and necessary. I did not foresee the Little House books becoming of primary-importance to me again in my life, but going down this rabbit hole of the lives of Laura and Rose and the process of how the books got written… So fascinating. Thank you so much for contributing such a wealth of information to the Little House universe. 💚

12:20 not true, it could be that those 10 students would have been even worse off without college. the fallacy is in assuming those 20% would have been same in and out of college.

Can we substitute the price level on the AS-AD model graph, by CPI (price index)? Anyone.
@atulsingh75394 ай бұрын
Then how are the prices determined for the products, the methodology used for this? Can anyone please suggest a book or video to get this concept?
