As a Squad Boss it is every hour is weather. Also as a lookout for crew and call into I.C. with information on their time frame! All info entered in weather pad- where at, temp, rh, wind speed, wind direction (N-S-E-W), everything i can think of and turn into command back at I.C. !! It is 1 of the most import jobs on a fire.

Anyone "training" with the government on how to run a dozer, doesn't know how to run a dozer. Period

Great now you taught the public how to open the doors. What if the car isn't at that landing and someone opens the doors?

Building fire line is very intense. It’s easy to become disoriented in the smoke and dust. It really tests your skill and self control

Wash the fins and exterior of the radiator, very gently. Pressure can bend and break them. You are not flushing out the radiator, which is an internal process.

What the difference between an d11 and the norm d6 besides sizes?
@rp1645
@rp1645 2 жыл бұрын
The Wt. Probably. A D-11 is used in open pit mine's, mostly. The ground is hard pan/ solid A D-11 would probably not be good at pushing that dusty soil, burnt ground. To meany drop offs on fire line building. YES a D-11 is big and can push tons of ground, but and I say but. The machine still needs a stable footage. For Fire line cuts you need a mid size like the D-6 it can cut a lot of Dirt, plus less turning radius. A D-11 would probably be more of a slower builder of fire breaks, because of size and Wt. YES they can still roll over on hilly terrain. Also just think of size trying to get to fire line. They are to, to big to trailer down road ( front blade must be removed) . In open pit mine's they have a special off road carriage truck to move them around. The carrier is overweight for any public right of way. They would SINK roads, break water main or gas crossing, traveling over top of them.

@@rp1645 appreciate the reply. I saw some comments about them being used for Huge Wildfires by some, and was curious about the difference. I will keep these differences in mind. I am thinking about my future and possibilities.

@@Tuner010 another difference on a D11 vs a D6 would also be the type of blade/movement of the blade. A D11 would more than likely have a 4 way blade. A blade that enables you too move up and down as well as at an slight angle too the left and too the right. A D6 would more than likely have a 6 way blade. Up and down and side too side like the D11, but also at an angle too the left and the right. Mr. @RP gave you the beginning info but you sounded interested so I thought I'd give you some more.

How do you determine what aspect to use?
@gzusburrito
@gzusburrito 2 жыл бұрын
The aspect will be the slope aspect you are standing on. face away from the slope, use your compass. ex: compass shows you are facing East, therefore you are on an East aspect.

Ocfa has a 2 min turnout time after they have been dispatched. What seems to be the delay??? After midnight is understanable but try holding your breath while they take there time getting out. Strictly a minir league operation.

LA County is building a 700 MHz trunking system that they *think* will solve their interop and coverage issues. It's being called LA-RICS, but I call it LA reeks. Not a fan of the system they are planning. It just won't solve the issues of interop in the larger LA metropolitan area, which spans from the cliffs of Malibu, to the deserts in Palmdale; from the Angeles National Forest, to the urban jungle of Long Beach.
