Hey guys, what’s the best way to break in an ambidextrous glove? I just got a Rawlings GR3FHTCALR (Japanese) and I’ve never broken in an ambidextrous glove, I’ve always had two separate gloves. Any advice would be appreciated.

@JustGloves
@JustGloves 7 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I think that this glove would have worked for an 11 year old on the infield. It did come cinched up to the tightest wrist setting. However, we are no longer carrying this exact model any longer. Here is one that is similar to the glove shown in the video. Overall, it is the same glove, but with a different look: www.justballgloves.com/product/rawlings-heart-of-the-hide-11-5--baseball-glove--pror314-2btc/36917/#attr=265210

Thanks for the message. When deciding to steam a glove, laces that become hard or brittle faster is one of the side-effects. If you had some worry about it, we'd recommend passing on the Trusted Glove Process.

Here's a blog post from when we carried these gloves: www.justballgloves.com/blog/post/glove-review-2019-ssk-collection/ I believe that the SSK Black line was a little higher in price when it was first listed. That usually means a combo of better materials and maybe some more craftsmanship as well.

People who are doubting the method bc he poured two cups of water on the glove for mere seconds are the same people who don’t play outside when there’s barely a sprinkle. Or the same ones who don’t want their hands to sweat as it may ruin “longevity” of their glove. Stop being a princess. 😂

Yes, a lot of the worry that folks have probably isn't necessary. However, we do understand the hesitancy in pouring water over a glove if you've never done so before. Probably feels a little reckless to some folks.

How the hell do you get your pinky in? The strap blocks entry
@JustGloves
@JustGloves 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Yes, sometimes it can be hard for an older player to get all of their hand in the glove. We probably wouldn't recommend a player using the glove above their 8-9 year old season. However, I think young players should be fine getting all of their fingers (including the pinky) in the glove.

Is it okay to use it for fastpitch softball?
@JustGloves
@JustGloves 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the message. You could definitely use the mitt for fastpitch, but it might not be as optimal as a fastpitch catcher's mitt. Fastpitch mitts have less-pronounced thumb and pinky padding and allow the mitt to receive the larger ball with more ease. If this is for a dad trying to catch his daughter's pitching, be sure to read this blog we put up last year on the topic: www.justballgloves.com/blog/post/fastpitch-catchers-mitt-for-dad/

@@JustGloves The glove prep is great and I am glad that I paid for it. Whomever did the glove prep, did a great job on the heel and breaking points of the glove. After some mallet work and playing catch for a few hours of catch, this glove is game ready. I will definitely use this service for any new gloves going forward. This glove is for my son after his Rawlings HOH glove laces broke on the web. We went to a local sporting goods store to get the glove relaced and they did a terrible job. I was reluctant to buy a new glove in the middle of the season due to break in time, however, the new Wilson A2000 is game ready now. Also, after having a few different gloves and brands, I believe Rawlings makes the best glove. I have tried Wilson, 44, Mizuno, and Rawlings. The Wilson A2000 is a close second to a Rawlings HOH.

Is the only difference the wrist & tighter finger stalls? Are the inserts and everything the same as a str8 up Heart of the Hide or is it more like a R2G / Catered to youth players?
@JustGloves
@JustGloves 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question. Even though we say differently in the video, I believe that this glove will only be cinched to the tightest wrist opening. The finger stalls would have been regular sized. If you want a glove with both a small wrist and tighter/shorter finger stalls, be sure to look to the ContoUR Fit gloves.

In Japan, they use this method. But they fill the bucket in hot water and completely submerge the glove. With a similar process afterwards. But the real way to do it, is submerge the glove in hot water for 10 secs.
@JustGloves

Thanks for the comment! We have heard about submerging the glove as well. We have found that if a method gets a glove broken in, you make plays with it and your satisfied with the amount of time that spanned before it wears down...then you broke it in correctly!
