I saw Sharon Isbin perform this at the beautiful Touhill theater in St Louis in 2005. I was just a few yards from her. I was a vocal performance major at the time. Although I recognized the piece, I didn't know it is basically the most famous piece ever written for classical guitar. I was blown away by her entire performance. Since then I've said that if I had seen her perform when I was a kid, I would have been a guitar player instead. It's an amazing experience to be so close to someone during a live performance who is literally one of the best people on the planet at what they do.

Yes, Perfect. But why do I remain completely haunted and posessed by that Segovia recording from the Alhambra? ( You know the one I mean) With all its buzzing strings, squeeks and old man imperfections. What happens in that? Sorry but thats just how it is.

Sharon does not get enough recognition for her talent, and playing. Her skill, and technique is unrivaled by many modern players. Personally I believe her talent, and skill is on the same level as Paco de Lucia, and Juan Martin. If people knew how much skill, and dedication it takes to play this piece properly through out like she does they would agree.

She is by far the best. Like all truly great musicians, she is not performing so much as living the music.

Powerful silences inside of the piece, and all well balanced with just the right amount. Maybe the best version so far (Imbiriba's is also good but heavy on flamenco, for better or worse)

I suppose there's a reason that" classical guitars" are designed with those holes in the top. If someone could explain it without getting too technical I would appreciate it!!

Once went to a guitar clinic where she was one of the clinicians and she literally snubbed anyone who would reach out to shake her hand afterwards at the "meet and greet". She was all like " I don't want to get an injury from shaking hands" gimme a freaking break...Stanley Jordan and Herb Ellis shook hands with everyone. I like Ana Vidovic better...more humble for one thing, sweet as can be and hot looking.

Не стоит критиковать человек любой играет на гитаре так как он может главное он любит это искусство а если вы можете сыграть лучше прямо как Таррега Льобет Сеговия Анидо то возьмите и сыграйте лучше чем критиковать

I listened to concerto Aranjuez in my cargo van and liked the guitarist at every moment. I couldn't get step out of my driveway. I had to hear this master all the way. She played w/ the NewYork Philharmonic. She was not only a master guitarist but a profound musician. I couldn't believe I was hearing perfection in every aspect. She has to be Spanish.

I do not play guitar and do not understand maybe its subtleties, but Asturias is my all time favourites. Because I am made of chili. I want these down strokes strong, I want picks loud and heard. I have heard Asturias of Isaac Albeniz played by many masters like Segovia, Ana Vidovic, John Williams. Sharon is great but not quite there I like.. Ana Vidovic and Segovia are the ones for my taste. The picking need not to be perfect, it has to have some attitude when you play Asturias. My son plays acoustic guitar and has studied it for long time. I told him once: when you play Asturias I like, I pay your studies in engineering.
