If they ever decide to bring back POI they could easily incorporate some sort of story line like this to "erase" the ending we all witnessed at the end of Season 5....never give up hope. The hardest part of resurrecting POI would be to get all of the key players back together to do the show - including Nolan. If they're all not returning then it is pointless to even move forward, but there is ALWAYS hope! Great job putting this video together BTW! 😎

Why did this have to end ? It was one of the few things on TV that gave me hope. I am renaming Finch Quixote and The Machine Dulcinea. It is Time for a Movie Trilogy .

I get emotional every time I watch it. That's what heroism is like. A feeling that normal people will never understand

the ending it was obvious they were working on it for seasons and for some reason he went the complete opposite. The machine was supposed to be smarter than the other because it understood humanity. That's how it would have won because the other computer couldn't guess what it was going to do because it was just a computer

Did root really die

makes sense really. the singularity would be benevolent and force us to behave, probably to others as well as to the rest of all life. All perceptions of advanced alien life is one of calm enlightenment otherwise they would have wiped each other out before that. i dont think we have anything to fear from AI unless we have something to fear from right and wrong, and more specifically bad people will likely be corrected or eliminated

Stories of heroism always make me emotional. I'm Turkish and we have a lot like that, but we have a lot of real stories. and I have a lot of respect for real heroes, even more than my family

I came across this tv show when I still watched TV. I am currently watching the series on FREEVEE, on our Roku tv.

it mostly ended the way i wanted it too, but there's two different ways that would of been the last scene in the show, you could of shown what they did for all the characters, except for johns character i would have given him two alternate options of an ending, 1. he dies like he does, but show him in the after life seeing the love of his life say to him "you told me to wait for you, so here i am" or 2. after getting shot the couple times have him go down the stairs, cut away to showing the building getting blown up, then have the last scene be showing a guy in a suit that looks like john, but you can't tell if it's someone else that's not him, walking hears the phone ring in a telephone booth, have him go in answer it and hears the machine say "can you hear me"

It is something quite beautiful and ironic, that a show about a machine teaches us what it really means to be human.

Hope I remembered correctly! Thought key members were deleted at the end so machine couldn't track them. God forbid it happens in real life, they must be bored to tears!

After watching and rewatching this series many times, I discovered this clip on YT. I really enjoyed this ending. I like how in this ending, the 1 win, out of all those simulations, the machine only considered it a win; when all of them live. It fits so well with the episode, Root Path, where Root realizes the extent the Machine will go to save people.

Loved this show. Think it was only axed because it was too close to reality that was coming in the future.

I’m happy about the ending but sometimes i wish this happened

I absolutely love this ending for a couple of Reasons, First and foremost Reese doesn’t die! And second, It allows us to believe that the whole crew is still out there saving people’s lives. Great job! In my mind this is the official ending.

You know one of the MANY things i loved about this show was that it was Batman but not Batman. Reese was "The Man In The Suit" Harold was his man in the chair aka Alfred, Carter was Gordon, and Fusco i would maybe call Bullock. Im not sure what to call Shaw, she is sort of Robin only in the sense she became a partner but not one that that needed to be trained. Hard to pick a role for Root but she is the villain who became a hero as often happens in comic books.

So after watching POI for the fifth time I'm in tears yet again the ending is in my mind great and outstanding but I always come and watch this ALT ending because of that one chance that makes me happy. The writing the acting also the music makes this one of the greatest series going it pulls the hart strings in so many ways and we need show and movies more than ever to show this humanity more than ever

I think my new favorite word is "Discarded." And my new favorite number, is 1.

Ironically the AIs will soon enable us to produce new episodes.
