Alexa has just presented me with this song. I thought it was Alex Turner singing, or maybe Richard Hawley. So it warranted another listen. May well do again a few times.

A solo version of this was a bonus track on the convincer. Great to hear a band version of this classic.

Love that late-‘50’s, early- ‘60’s tone and vibe that Nick captures, somehow making you feel as though he were creating something entirely his, and completely new…

Awesome! This sounds out the feel of hurt over missing someone, perfectly.

Most Musicians of Nick’s era are in decline creatively. Nick is singing, performing and writing better than ever. I think Nick being true to his art and talent are propelling him to an incredible Legacy Catalog. Well done always Nick.

Outside of The Beatles, who I'm informed were a band, has there been a better 5 album run than from Party of One to At My Age in all of rock/pop? I think not. Amazing talent.

@@michaelroberts7959 This reminds me very much of Hope For Us All, from At My Age, but the other side of the coin, to borrow another of Nick's titles :) I suppose the loss of Neil Brockbank and Bobby Irwin forced a change, along with Nick's move to Yep Roc, who have been remarkably good at promoting Nick's interests, but I don't think there's ever been a lineup of Nick's I haven't liked.

Good Song, Good Voice !!! I subscribed . Los Straitjackets has been one of my favorites since I picked up a copy of "The Velvet Touch of Los Straitjackets" in 1999, & heard the song "Tempest" . Have you ever considered producing "Los Straitjackets Songbook" with all the songs, & guitar notation/tabs since the beginning of Los Straitjackets ? So much music is lost over time if it's not written down for future generations. Videos , on-line stuff is nice...but nothing that lasts thru the years replaces written books. I'm fortunate to have a couple dozen songs by "Daddy-O-Grande" from 20+ years ago : which means a lot to me. 🙂🎸

A great new song from England's greatest living songwriter. Is anyone else getting "Something Stupid" vibes?
@jeffkaufman98756 күн бұрын
@derek Though Nick’s a master songwriter and surely one of England’s best, hyperbole aside, he is not England’s greatest living songwriter…
@derekfry95516 күн бұрын
@@jeffkaufman9875 Elvis Costello said Nick Lowe was England's greatest living songwriter when the "Spectacle" series was on TV. I tend to agree with him.
@jeffkaufman98756 күн бұрын
@derek Elvis Costello is another master English songwriter, perhaps one even more skilled than Nick; in any case, one artist’s humility with regard to another, does not suffice for fact, but remains an open question of opinion, preference, and debate in the ears of the beholder…
