If you cleared mpg history at 55mph and drive that speed for 20 miles . 30mpg is horrendous.

This is from a stop. The trick is to tank up right next to a highway with the motor already warmed up. That way you get up to speed and sip fuel the whole way.
@KFCK7472 ай бұрын
When an engine is powerful enough it can get going by just sipping on the fuel tank. If you push it that's when it chugs the whole tank.

@@LastCallWidebodyChallenger No. Not if ur going 60 on a highway. You know dang well the tcm would have shifted and be sitting at 1500 going 60... no point in putting more wear on a motor if ur just normally cruising. Now doing pulls, sure let it rev up to the limiter, dont put wear on it just going 60 for no reason...
@LastCallWidebodyChallenger5 ай бұрын
Actually it’s a manual 6 speed and if I go into 6th at 60 it’s turning over at about 1400 RPM which lugs the motor. I normally wait for 75mph to shift into 6th so that I’m doing ~1700RPM. To cruise in 6th I need to be going 80 mph and if traffic won’t allow that, like today, I stay in 5th.
@Unit_4505 ай бұрын
@@LastCallWidebodyChallenger whats ur definition of "lugging" on a motor? Usually 1400 is absolutely nothing for a 6.2L v8, my 6.0 Chevy upshifts and sits at 1200rpm no problem, it loves it, it downshifts around 1100rpm... I cruise at 80mph around 1850rpm, but even at 1100 it has no issues and I am probably 1.5 times your weight its an express. Also why would u buy a 6spd on a last call... I get the connected feeling in a manual but the dodge transmissions are hard to get as it is now, it aint gonna be easy getting a manual in 10 years when it blows up
@LastCallWidebodyChallenger5 ай бұрын
My definition is when the motor vibrates instead of accelerating when you give it gas. My other definition is when the torque exceeds 250ft-lbs and the car doesn’t accelerate because the hp is below 50. If I downshift one gear, the torque drops to around 100, the hp increases and the car can take off. I try to keep it at 1800 RPM. Less and it lugs, more and I could be at 1800 in the next gear. 5-6 is a big jump so I need the speed to get there. Why did I buy a manual? I like to drive and I chose this car over the Charger because it was offered with a manual. At the time I ordered it, Hellcats were only offered in automatic so I went with the Scatty. It fit the bill that I was looking for: giant motor with a 6-Speed and rear wheel drive. At the end of the day, it’s the car I wanted to get. I love driving a stick and anything else is just boring to me. As for getting parts: I don’t see Tremec going away in 10 years. There is enough demand in racing to keep parts for this car going long after the manufacturer stops making parts. The gear ratios on it are very interesting, I normally shift 1-3-5-6 or 1-3-4-6. Rowing through the first four is rather pointless as they are so close together. Dodge recommends 1-4-5-6 but I feel like a teenager with a rice rocket reving 1st all the way up to 30mph to get into 4th with enough speed to carry on forward. 4th is 1:1 and very handy for low speed country roads. 6th is 0.5:1 and great for gas mileage in the highway. 5th is that odd place in between.
