Is that Misha Quint playing? The tone sounds like it came straight from the Russian school of playing.

Fuck it, the last one, I finally found it !!!! Rachmaninoff did an adaptation of it for the piano, I think it was a bit different in the 1926 version with Nadezhda Plevitskaya singing, but I finally have a score, or something written for it. I'll try to rewrite it according to what I was on the 1926 version if this one is not adequate enough ^^

Beautiful music. Some of it sounds Jewish. Other parts sound very Russian. I love both Jewish and Russian music.

Respect for the pianist who went to the trouble of rehearsing such an uncomfortable, boring, unimaginative and clumsy piece. I loved César Franck from my first encounter with his violin sonata; it will always remain a mystery to me how he was able to undergo this incredible development - I don't think there is any great composer for whom the difference in quality between the early and late works is as enormous as in his case. "Prélude, Choral et Fugue", the Piano Quintet, the Violin Sonata, the Variations Symphoniques, "Les Djinns", the D minor Symphony, the String Quartet, the Organ Chorales: immortal masterpieces to my ears; I hope I haven't forgotten anything in this list... Some other pieces: Respectable to good. Most of the early works: unenjoyable...

Suffers from the same kitsch melodic and lyric tonal harmony that Liszt's lesser compositions display. Needless to say both of them left us with several masterpieces. This is not one of them.
