Any suggestions for mine? I tried to adjust the valves, after doing that when I pull the rope it gets stuck and can't be pulled, but if I remove the spark plug it comes free and I can pull it normally.

Sounds like the decompression portion of the cam is not working properly. Was this adjustment done in reaction to the machine not starting?

Question. Do you know if it will still run on propane even If the gas side of it fails from old gas? gummed up carb. Ethanol etc.
@MR_Garage
@MR_Garage 8 минут бұрын
I have never had one gummed up on the gas side and then see if it runs on the propane side. Interesting thought though. Knowing how most of the carbs work on propane, my thought is that it would work but that would of course have to be tested.

Just confirming Mr Garage. When replacing springs with Eibach you can still set the shock to the 2nd from top notch like you did with OG springs correct? Thank you so much

You can, but not needed as they are lift springs. I had to move mine up as I have the weight of a winch and bumper. Basically, just do what the vehicle calls for but I would not recommend going beyond the 2nd notch.

Hey I know it’s been a while since you have posted anything about the 3500 predator but I have one right now and I was wondering if there is a way to clean the carburetor.

Just have to pull the carb by taking off the airbox, unbolting the unit and draining the bowl prior to pulling the carb out. Then, clean per any small engine carb cleaning instructions.

I have not seen one for these tiny generators (sub 1800w). They pair the motors carefully to match the output as the main goal is weight savings in this class. With this and propane being less energy dense, it is just not popular when you can add 10 lbs and go to an 1800w+ generator that is dual fuel. The ones that have tried to go propane at this displacement usually end up around 800w rated on propane and that is pointless to most. About the only ones doing it with some success is Alps. But they are propane only.
@rockstarSG1

@@MR_Garage Gotcha. I was only going to use it to charge my solar generator and 800w would have been fine. I pretty much have to find a snorkel that would fit the carburetor and get a universal kit right?

Clean the carb and check valve clearances. Sounds more fuel related per your description. Never had an issue with these little GD400BN's! Less than half the weight of the predator. Torn down, adjusted valve clearances, put thin rubber washers on wheel axles, put back together and fired up on propane, wow, what a huge difference! I let it warm up and turned the on/off a little closer to the choke side, just a bit, not much and this generator purrs great, no wheel rattle and a lot smoother running at idle or eco off, thanks for the tips! Awesome video. I am thinking about getting two of these and a parallel kit. I will alternate using each to keep them broken in and such, but parallel them when I need to power a bunch of stuff, but like being able to separate them to run the fridge near the front of the house and a portable AC for the back bedroom if power is lost. Live in Florida and get hurricanes. I like doing 2 because if one were to tank, I would have the other and could replace the bad one. I like that even though it is self contained, it is easy to fill and drain the oil and same with the fuel drain.

I like the idea of doing two in parallel as well. You can use a single to save fuel when large demand is not needed or a pair when higher demand is required. Makes more sense to me that buying a single large unit.

Thanks for the absolutely awesome review and teardown of this generator! I have the gd400bn and purchased this to parallel with it for dual ac travel trailer. I can report that the wheel carriage setup is different in that there is a molded axle with a lock nut to secure the wheels which has no vibration. I removed the wheels and handle (which rattled a little) since I won't use those which subtracted 1.5 lbs off the weight. My scale has the gd version at 50lbs with oil and the gx version at 57.5lbs without wheels/handle. My manufacture date says 12/23 (even though I purchased in in July). The valve clearance is in spec from the factory and it runs great. Seems like they have worked those kinks out (wheels and valve clearance) and everything else is the same (spade connected to bullet is still there). So far so good on this generator and the price is the same as the gd400bn at this point. Keep up the good work sir!

This happens if they stretch their ABS cables and break the wires. You can verify for yourself that they will not come on by unplugging the shocks before you do the job, drive it around for a week. They will not come on. If you do the job and they do come on, you damaged one of the wires.

@@LuisGonzales-w2t Look for 2019 - 2024 TRD camry pads. Checked R1's site, they do not offer pads for the TRD camry (or variant like the highlander). The feel is for sure more refined and confident especially coming to a stop from an offramp from a freeway or downhill stops (we have a few mountain passes here in Az which are pretty hard on brakes - the off-ramp is literally downhill to a stop). Very noticeable when the car is loaded down too. Less grabby than stock (stock pads are always grabby cold), but much better, more linear pedal feel. When you want to stop, you stop!

Great deep dive and walkthrough. Thankyou for this. Question, if planning to use this generator on propane to power a window ac unit and small refrigerator during power outages, how is it grounded? What is it's reference to ground? Should I put in a ground rod somewhere and tie it into the grounds in a junction box prior to the power coming in the house? Thanks again. This was very helpful.
@MR_Garage
@MR_Garage Ай бұрын
Most will not do it, but the proper way is to use the ground lug on the panel of the generator and connect to a grounding rod. If you only drag the generator out during outages, just use a jumper cable to the lug and connect to the grounding rod quickly and easily. Or, you can use a wingnut on the grounding lug of the generator and use an eyelet to 12-14awg wire... the wire would be permanently attached to the rod.
