Proud to be a Patroen member supporting TT. A show that I've loved since it first started. Also was a great privilege to visit Sutton Hoo during the TT excavations and test pitting and speak with everyone there to find out more about everything they were doing. Was a great day.

Thank you for sharing this video and this knowledge. What amazing finds. History allows the people of the past to speak to us today and what they have to say is incredibly interesting!

They keep reducing the age of the tree. At the start it was 300 years old 😮! Then 200 years. 120/130 sounds more realistic, but still high. Maybe do what I did when I wanted to find out how old my ex-wife was, just count the rings. Easy 😊

I love the gardens here, particularly the rock garden with Japanese maples and also the friendly black cat who came to meet us on the bench in the kitchen garden two years running.

Thanks for sharing. I found the dough too sticky even after kneading for one hour and adding some more flour. I proved three times each time adding a bit of flour but it was still too sticky at the end that the dough was sticking to the spatula when trying to make the hole in the middle.

The root system of this tree will still be very much alive and capable of supporting very rapid regrowth - it is by no means dead. What is required is careful management to select and encourage regrowth of a single trunk (left to its own devices it will throw up many trunks from the stump and root system.) Many of our oldest trees have been coppiced (cut down close to the ground) or polarded (cut off higher up the trunk) many time in the past.

Hi Colin, you're absolutely right! We're doing all we can to protect the Sycamore Gap stump to give it the best chance of re-growth and we are optimistic we will see some re-growth.
@ColinMill1Ай бұрын
@@nationaltrustcharity Many thanks for the reply! I'm glad to hear you are protecting the stump. I'm sure lots of people will be interested to hear how this is progressing. Please keep us all posted.
