Watching this review made me interested in it and I just ordered two, Olive Green with heartbeat M nib and Transparent with standard M nib. I am looking forward to the delivery.

The ink in your title card is really lovely. It looks like Noodler's Liberty Elysium, but maybe deeper? Anyway, great review and your testing process is so so pleasing!

Very professional how you examined all the various problems nib and feed provided. Could a Waterman grip section really fit into a Parker Vac Gen 3? Anyway, I think you are asking for a very fair price considering the enormous number of hours you have invested. Hope it finds a good new home

I has already! I sold it today to a local pen group friend! Since the section is threaded for a Vacumatic, I think it is likely a weird Canadian Parker plant part. Perhaps after four years of the US not making parts, Canada made their own for these pens?

@@InkquiringMinds There are a lot of possibilities what might have happened in the Canadian plant after the US decided to stop the Vacs production. What I forgot to write in my 1st comment: When I saw the too long feed issue, I thought: "OK, that's the moment where the elephant want's to take its leak!" Can't find words to describe your skills and your bravery when you decided to shorten it and succeeded to restore that weird angled shape of its bottom as well. I believe that the feed has been replaced far later when somebody tried to fix ink flow issues but couldn't find the correct feed. Who knows? And the pen won't speak and keep its secret...

Thank you Murray for adding onther pen to my GRAIL list. You must be so reluctant to hand them back Doug! I will check out the second hand market which is probably the only way I can afford it. I had never seriously looked at these before. I am glad you are over COVID.

I do not have the Classic but I do have the 180. I know how thin it can be, given it has about the same dimensions as the 180. It may be worth searching for it. Very good review, Doug. Would you get one for yourself?

It is interesting that Parker nibs seem to be prone to breakage. Did Parker use more fragile gold?

The danger with a successful restoration like his is that it emboldens amateurs like me, who would surely jack things up. I so appreciate these videos!

Another beautiful restoration completed! Those little jingles or songs are very useful to imprinting information in your mind. I still remember the definition of MCH, ( Mean Corpusculer Hemaglobin ) MCV, ( Mean Corpuscular Volume) and MCHC ( Mean Corpuscular Hemaglobin Concentration ) from a Laboratory Techniques class I took in college. I had a particular difficulty remembering those, and so I sang them over and over, to myself and I aced the test.

I think the saying goes, the more things change, the more they stay the same, meaning that no restoration is identical. There is always something that is different. It is why I think an excellent auto mechanic is an artist, especially when restoring a 25 year old vehicle and there is no manual to tell you how to fix it. Great restoration, Doug.

Sorry Doug, I had too much going on to catch the stream live, but have since watched the replay. The thing I found the most interesting was when you mentioned wanting to remove the nib/feed from the Pilot E95s. I've been wanting to do that myself so I could give mine a deep cleaning. The problem I'm having is figuring out the dimensions to use to fabricate my own tool, which you happened to mention as well. It was some time back I found this very interesting video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/grZzpZlk1bmumHk.html ! I'm not sure if you've seen it or not, and it goes into good detail on disassembly/reassembly (but no tool dimensions). And then I saw this video and the tool this person fabricated to accomplish the same task: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jZp0n6eJudXLg4U.html ! Maybe these videos will be a big help to you!
