Love them. You keep them in a 1,1 group? Would one alone still do well? I was looking into Emerald Tree Skinks first, but then I saw that they apparently don't do well long term, if they aren't in a group.
@jaexotics10 күн бұрын
So yes green Keeleds do perfectly fine in a group or alone! They don’t need to be in groups! I’ve owned Emerald tree skinks in groups but I just purchased a single one. She’s currently sick but she has been house alone her whole life. To my understanding and I could be wrong with this but they do not require a small colony to thrive. They can be communal yes but to large of a community without enough space can cause issues.

To my knowledge it’s a bold or possibly a daring if any, they’re native to MA, I caught it outside. I’m also by NO MEANS a master at identifying arachnids, I’m more of a reptile and amphibian enthusiast who’s just becoming involved more with arachnids
@Crustaceanking505 күн бұрын
Daring and bold are just different names for Phidippus Audax or P. Audax. Also I would not recommend feeding them crickets as they can spread parisites. Also I have observed that crickets eat anything even if it’s alive and have tried to feed one of my six bold jumping spiders one but the crickets started to eat him alive while in his web so I removed the crickets and luckily my female bold jumper was fine.
@jaexotics4 күн бұрын
@@Crustaceanking50 crickets from a sanitary place (which is where I buy them) are highly unlikely to contain any parasite. If they carried parasites it would harm our pets. crickets can harm or kill smaller pets if left alone. I’ve seen crickets actually eat their own dead within their container. I do appreciate the knowledge on their name though! I’ve never looked heavily into inverts and I won’t pretend I know everything! They just really started peaking my interest now but I appreciate the knowledge 😄

I trained my 5 year old male beardie who eas a rescue, to potty on a lengthwise paper towel at the front of his 120 gallon enclosure. I marked three black X's on it and encouraged him repeatedly. Took about three or four days. When he did his business on the paper towel he received a super worm and praise 😅 Makes for super easy clean up! I use Repto black vinyl substrate, spray the area w/half water & vingar mixture, and presto, stinky poo smell gone! They are extremely smart reptiles if you put the time in. @@jaexotics Thank you so much for your reply, Im currently feeding 3 every other day to my adults, they are not super skinny but definitely less chonk than yours so I wanted to know from a experienced owner.
@jaexotics13 күн бұрын
@@blastoice9281 I just got a new breeding pair about 4 weeks ago and they were skinny when I purchased them, I did feed them every day for a week, I gave them some wax worms in the mix as well and then after that I switched to every other day with proper hydration and supplementing. They definitely filled in well 😅
@blastoice92818 күн бұрын
@@jaexotics One more thing, how often do you dust their food with calcium? Could not find anything on that and am afraid of overfeeding calcium
@jaexotics7 күн бұрын
@@blastoice9281 it’s not a problem at all, I alternate calcium and vitamin with D3 and without every other feeding. If you do skip a day of dusting it will not cause major health issues. They get calcium and vitamins naturally through their diets in the wild with feeders other than domesticated crickets so that’s why in captivity it’s important to maintain a steady calcium schedule! They also receive stronger Sun rays which provide more uvb naturally in the wild

They do lay eggs, I couldn’t feel any eggs rubbing my thumb gently along her belly but I also couldn’t feel a major lump or blockage (not saying there isn’t one) best case scenario she has worms. Thank you for watching it and that’s awesome! Green Keeleds are amazing to work with and he will come around with consistent attempts with handling once he knows you aren’t trying to eat him! There are slight variations in the ambient humidity and temperatures with green keeled and emerald tree skinks. Emerald tree skinks can be super territorial with other tree skinks and other creatures at times and they’ll fight. They’ll also stress each other out causing other health issues in the long run so I’d refrain from keeping them in the same enclosure!
